Hi All,
I appologise if this has been asked and answered somewhere else but I was wondering what bits of my metabox/clevo w870cu are actually from clevo and which bits are from the local provider (in this case metabox in Australia).
I just returned my w870cu to the retailer I bought it from today but have been quite disappointed with it so far given that it is a quite high end laptop and has thusfar only left the house 3 times. Basically the issues with it I have had in less than a month:
1) Plastic flap/cover on the rear panel fell off within 3 days
2) If you take it anywhere in sleep mode it temperature alarms and shuts off in 60 seconds (despite all of the temperatures on the GPU/HDD/CPU/MB being perfectly normal)
3) The raised bar at the back came off making it impossible to open and close the laptop
4) Because the rear bar broke while opening it the screen flexed and now there is a large faint blue splotch on the left of the screen.
Are the cases made by clevo or by the resellers (ie are other resellers more sturdy/different?) The other options for me at the time were buying a 17" alienware (very heavy and not keen on the styling) or getting a sager from xoticpc and I'm seriously wondering whether I have made a bad choice given how quickly it has fallen apart. Would I have been better off with a Sager from xotic pc(about the same price as shipping is very expensive) or worse off since returning it would mean shipping it back to the US when it fell apart?
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Problems 1, 3, and 4 are definetely the reseller's problem because they make the non-clevo branded cases. Issue 2 could be from clevo or the reseller.

Thanks for that, that explains why reviews of the Sagers based off the same clevo model described good case build quality and why this one clearly doesn't have very good build quality.

Get your money back and re-order from another more reputable re-seller.
Clevo laptops have an above average build quality from my experiance.
XoticPC would be a great choice. -
Well, Clevo is a barebone ODM, that means Notebook minus HDD, RAM, OS, CPU and any related branding stuff. BUT, they are very flexible and have agreements with some OEM's to handle themselves one or more of the above mentioned devices. Even more, sometimes they ship directly to the end-customer on the behave of the OEM seller.

Point 1 is the resellers problem as it is up to them to provide a fix or replacement but all w870cu chassis are manufacturered by Clevo so you will get the same build quality on the chassis no matter where you purchase it from. What you might find is that the quality control at different resellers is better/worse so there might be less chance that you get a dud chassis from a more reputable company!

You should RMA it and get from XoticPC . I myself live in Brisbane QLD and found it to be cheaper ordering online from the USA than the Metabox AUS.
If I recall correctly, Metabox W860CU is $3000 AUD, roughly $2.9k US , while ordering the same one from the US costs about $2100 AUD
Which bits are actually clevo?
