Which do you think is better? I am going to upgrade my NP8660 in a few month after it gets here. I am thinking about installing either the 4 Gb Intel Turbo Memory or the 8Gb Intel Z-P230 PATA SSD, but I am not sure what are the differences between the two, and not sure which of these would help to speed up my computer when I am working and playing games.

Thanks! Here are the links of the two from Intel.

For one, Turbo Memory is useless. Many laptop vendors just do not include it, there is no point as per HP and a few others.

Two...Intel PATA drives are not going to work with a SATA notebook.

Greg, I think you are partially right about the Tubo memory, I think the 1Gb didnt work out well. But I just read a few posts from people who purchased the 2Gb Tubo memory II, it seemed like improved their application loading time a lot. That's why I am thinking about buying a 4Gb Tubo memory II to help with the boost time and other applications.

Though, thank you for pointing things out!

Hmmm...it would be interesting if I could find some benchmarks.

If one of us does not and you do get the Turbo Memory, think you could contact Andrew and set up a review?

Ya, I couldn't find any benchmarks neither, because the Turbo Memory II just came out.

I am not getting the Turbo Memory until after a price drop in a few month, I am sure someone will have a review up by then, but thanks for the suggestions!

Also I heard the NBR is getting a NP8660 on monday, if it has turbo memory I guess they can try to experiment with it.

The PATA SSD should hopefully be usable in WinXP and will be larger, but the bandwidth seems rather low as compared to a their true SSD drives. This seems made for something like a netbook.

I'm not sure how it compares with the bandwidth of Turbo Memory, but as compared to the Intel X25-M SSD it is pretty low.

I got the 2gb turbo memory with my np8660, and to test it out i opened itunes which normally takes about 5 seconds to load and when i pinned it to the turbo memory it opened up in about 2 seconds(didn't actually time it but it was significantly faster). The turbo memory actually works this time...

That is pretty sweet Csl, that is loads up AND ready to use within a second or two. The practicality of having that is endless. This is definitely going for my Office suite, Creative Suite and Music programs. :D
