    Hey guys!
I currently have a P775DM3-G with LG LP173WF4 SPF1 FullHD screen and had some trouble with quality control with many panels of this type which I tried had dead or stuck pixels.
I was against 4k screens due to performance issues but my laptop currently is having a screen change and considering some recent news which I have received I was wondering, would it worth to upgrade to an AUO B173ZAN01.1 4K screen?

    Main things I am interested:
    - does this 4k screen support GSync now? If yes, is it working better then with the LG panel? Even with GSync if the fps drops below 45 with the LG you can notice microstuttering which is more noticable as the fps drops. Will I notice microstutter on the AUO panel too if I get to the lower 40s or God help me, drop below 40 fps?
    - if I dont play on default resolution and for performance reasons I downgrade to 1920x1080 resolution, will I get a sharp image as I would get on the LG screen OR I get a blurry picture if the screen is not used on the highest available resolution (the same when a fhd panel is running at a lower resolution)
    - is the response time better compared to the LG? I get pretty noticable ghosting on the LG panel during fast movement. I tried to find some b2b and g2g results on Notebookcheck but in one article the results were better than the LG and in the other they were worst...

If considering ghosting the AUO is better and if I get the same sharp image on FHD as I get on the LG panel, then that extra $ would worth the upgrade for me.

Asking because PCS stated that they might not sell 120hz screens due to QC issues.

That panel is very good. I'm using it. It even has 100% AdobeRGB color space.

-It does support G-SYNC now and the experience with G-SYNC will be similar to that of your LG most likely.

-If you don't play at default resolution, it will be slightly blurry at 1080p. It isn't too bad (especially with some AA) but still noticeable.

-I don't know what the response time is on these, might be 25ms?

The IPS screens generally have a response time of 25 ms g2g. The AUO screens are very well rated for their colour reproduction, based on numerous reviews of laptops that possess similar screens (FHD, QHD etc.). I don't know what the situation about QC is, but I have yet to hear about any QC issues. I only know that there's a bit of production issue (in terms of stock), but that's as far as I know (and I don't know what I don't know).

4K is demanding. Really demanding if you are going to OC the screen and that almost definitely will impact your FPS. I leave it to the other more experienced people to inform you about the microstutters. However, I can tell you that 4K downsizes perfectly to FHD, so you shouldn't have any issues there; if anything it should like just the tiniest bit better with the resolution downsize compared to standard FHD screens.

I will get the AUO B173ZAN01.3 screen (120 Hz FHD) in the near future, although how near is near... god knows.

Well 4k is 4x the pixels of 1080p so yes it's massively more hungry on the GPU.

4k usually kills the GPU... Anything less than the 1070 is not recommended for 4k..

I have one of the AUO UHD screens ending 1.1, when testing with the Spyder calibration tool it actually has 97% Adobe RGB not 100%. Also I get no G-sync with this model but did have it with my HD panel that was in there before this.

Do you have the model 1.0 or 1.1 screen?

That screen is likely not validated by Nvidia (even a small version difference is enough).

That's what I thought. As it's near identical to the 1.0 version hopefully it will be validated in a later driver

The panel has to be paid by a company to get validated so unless it is included in one of those models it wont be by default.
