    Hi there!

I'm looking to buy my first Clevo computer, and I'm quite undecided for which reseller to go to although I'm tempted to go with EUROCOM since they are offering me a 10% student discount.

Here are the specs I'm looking for, let me know your thoughts:

    Sager NP9150 / Clevo P150EM / EUROCOM Racer 2.0
    - 15.6” FHD LED Backlit Matte Type Screen << While I am an amateur photographer, I'm also looking to cut costs
    - Intel® Ivy Bridge Core i7-3610QM - Stock OEM Thermal Compound
    - AMD Radeon HD 7970M << Gaming!
    - 8GB - DDR3 1600MHz
    - 750gb 7200rpm
    - Remove DVDRW Drive and Install Optical Bay Hard Drive Caddy << I plan on buying an SSD and move the HDD to the caddy
    - Intel Advanced-N 6235 - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module + Bluetooth << Going to college, so I need the best wifi while keeping costs low
    - No Operating System << Cheaper to buy student license from Microsoft

And here's what each reseller is offering:
    EUROCOM: $1646.00 -10% = $1481.40
    XOTICPC - PowerNotebooks: $1609.00

I'm also tempted to just go with a W110ER, work some extra hours and build my own $1600 gaming rig...
    EUROCOM: $1054.00 -10% = $948.6 (with matte screen, but 4GB of RAM)
    XOTICPC - PowerNotebooks: $964.00

Any advice you guys might give me? Is the almost $130 difference worth going from EUROCOM to XOTICPC/PowerNotebooks? Would you go with the gaming laptop or mini-power laptop + gaming rig?

    Thanks in advance!

eurocom imo is a iffy decision at best bad experience i would recommend mythlogic i think he might have some type of discounts for you email him or give him a call here his home page MYTHLOGIC :: Computers | Service | Support he answered all my questions very helpful like i said this was just my experience with the two and just look for the Pollux 1612(Clevo P150EM)

Yeah, I checked MYTHLOGIC and they were around $1915! The only difference from specs is that the screen is 95% gamut!

I'd strongly recommend you to avoid Eurocom. Their business has been quite shady in the past. You can't go wrong with either XoticPC or PNB! And I'm sure both offer a $50 NBR member discount besides the regular 3% cash discount.. :)

Same as Prasad you'll get better prices with Xotic -3% cash discount (Wire Bank Transfer) + 50$ cash discount for NBR members. I compared prices it's not this worth buying @ Eurocom

Don't forget to consider LPC-Digital, GenTech, Malibal and others. They all have promotions, but they don't discuss on the forums. Just give them a call, email, and they respond quickly.

I also would avoid Eurocom. Not saying it is still this way, but past reputation with Eurocom was if they give you a discount or match price, they also take away in quality and parts. Even if they don't, I just wouldn't take the risk anyway. If you want a Canadian dealer there are plenty of alternatives. People seem to like Reflex for example.

Just depends on the person. I've been using a laptop for nearly a decade now and have never built a gaming rig. I've never had issues with gaming and I actually prefer using a laptop now. For something as simple and essential as typing, I prefer typing on a laptop over any desktop setup. I also prefer having one powerful laptop over multiple setups. If I'm mobile on a train/plane whatever, I have my phone or can just buy a cheap tablet. I also like taking my powerful rig to work. Work rarely will ever have a system nearly as nice as your notebook.

I highly recommend LPC-Digital, I recently purchased my NP9150 from them and have had absolutely amazing customer service. Their price was also substantially lower than their competitors, I suggest giving Larry a shout as he has definitely done right by me.

My vote also goes to Mythlogic. The difference in price is due to the thermal paste (which, btw, you should definitely upgrade) being IC Diamond, the monitor calibration (recommended anyways), and the extreme testing and quality assurance they provide as a standard package. Plug those into other configurators and then judge the difference. My laptop (specs in sig) costs as much, if not less, than the same specs on other sites. You can also provide them with your Windows license and they'll install it for you, in case you want your laptop tested with your own OS copy

Glad it worked out for you. I wouldn't risk it considering all the upgrades I asked for on my system with the discounts given. I just wouldn't risk it, and I want my machine amazing. Larry has been a huge contributor to Clevo/Sager forums on NBR for years and not a single bad thing I've heard. For Eurocom, the bad news is just endless on google search.

Also hands down, Eurocom has the worst site to navigate and the worst configuration page ever. They still ask for items that are just standard on Clevo notebooks? It's like wading through a hideous swamp.

Well, EUROCOM is out. I did notice that their sales rep didn't answer my emails for entire days, and just says they don't care...

And I'm going for the gaming laptop. Since I'm an international student, I also travel quite a bit and I'd hate to just carry a powerful-but-not-quite-there ultraportable when I can carry a really powerful laptop.

I'll email both XOTICPC and Larry and see who offers the best price. Many thanks you all!!

When calling Xotic make sure to verify the 3% cash. When I called for a quote, was told if I took the free shipping they would reduce it to 2%, which I said no to, since it just seemed weird to me why they would do that. Free shipping but with a catch.

I order it from xoticpc, they have me the NBR discount, sager discount and 3% discount... close to $140USD in savings! I tried reaching LPC but they never answered my calls or emails so... yeah. I'll make a short review once I receive it next week.

    Hey 0x2501!

Just wanted to let you know that we do care, and that I'm really sorry that your questions weren't answered. If you are still interested, please PM me your details and I'll make a personal note to look over the weekend and see what we can do for you. I'd have a final answer for you by Monday when our office reopens.

With regards to some of the negative feedback being discussed, this stems from old cases that occurred when we had someone else handling sales. I've read over the history of a few of them and quite frankly I can understand where the hostility comes from.

Over the course of the last few years we've made some process and staff changes and I'm personally committed to treating each customer as I would hope to be treated.

If you check our feedback on eBay you'll see that over the course of 478 pieces of feedback recieved we've had a 99.7% satisfaction rating. Also, if you look up Eurocom's Better Business Bureau record, you'll see that we have an A+ rating and there have been only two complaints over the course of three years. They were both resolved.

Again, I can't emphasize enough that we're not the same company we were several years ago and that we're committed to having happy customers.

So as to avoid a total hijack of the thread, I'd ask anyone with questions unrelated to 0x2501's original topic to please PM me directly.

Hope you all have pleasant weekends,

    -Dan

Seems while I was writing that last post I was already too late. Apologies again for the slow replies 0x2501. Enjoy your new notebook and have a good weekend.

Our standard policy does alter the cash discount from 3% to 2% when combining discounts, but we extend it to a full 3% for NBR members. I'm sorry for any confusion there.

@ 0x2501 congrats on your order! We'll be in touch if any questions come up.

Awesome. Glad to hear you got everything you wanted and all the promotional goodies. Free shipping is just awesome, saves a bundle considering how heavy and large these laptops are :D

I've owned Asus G series from Xotic and been very happy with their past service. Their support is top notch.

    Hey Dan,

Haha, no problem! I went with xoticpc because they were, quite literally, 5 minutes faster than LPC in answering my email! Since I'm picking up my new laptop in Laredo TX, and part of obtaining my student visa requires surrendering my current visa, time was of the essence.

Anyhow, many thanks for your response!

Ps. xoticpc D: please take of my order? Hahaha
