Title pretty much says it, I'm in need of quick service. I fish in AK and my laptop died. I've been unexpectedly called South to testify in court and I'll be leaving there next Tuesday to return here and finish my season. I know it's probably a long shot but if there was a reseller that could whip out something custom in that time (with a decent reputation) I'd like to know who they are, later won't work since UPS doesn't deliver to the middle of the Bering Sea. Thanks gents.

I'll get a DTR Clevo, prefer single 1terrabyte drive, probably 32 Meg's RAM, haven't had an internet connection until just this morning so I have to study the options on graphics. I'm thinking about going cheap and swapping those out when Nvidia drops. I'm behind the gun here since I haven't had connectivity for several months. You folks have tips, suggestions etc, throw em out, I'll take what I can get. Ordering in the morning so I don't have time to do much research, in between flights now. Thanks.

Right now, Sagers build times have been going through pretty quickly as well. Plus there is the option for rush production to get priority on your build and out the door quicker.

Up to now, I plan to buy from HIDevolution, you should try to talk to them. They have rush build services, for a few bucks, and offer rare components and services for certain models. (Like Prema BIOS for P870DM-G, or G.Skill RAM for certain models, or silicon lottery delidded CPUs)

Friendly word of advice - contact the mods to have your account updated, because as a company rep you have to do this and are limited to posting links to the website and so on ;-)

Ok thanks folks, HID is trying to kick one out by Thursday. I've got a P879 coming which is not entirely tarted out. I went with the 970s as the performance seems roughly equivalent to the DT 980 but comes in a couple hundred less. This decision was partly based on the hopes of moving to pascal when it drops. My line of work also makes something like the Core a good option assuming the thing ever takes off and the drivers become available for it (or similar no proprietary solutions) so that may be another upgrade path. Love the idea of getting a good 4k monitor and a desktop card to drive it on the boat while having a more portable lappy for travel. Right now the 970s have a lot of headroom so I've got time. Worse case I get the 980Ms I skipped now down the road. We'll see the wisdom of that choice in time. Other tidbits... went with two of the 850s in Raid 0 for a terabyte, 16 gigs of the G.skill, 1080 for the screen. Should be able to play quake 2. :)

What speed of G.skill RAM did you order? I ordered 2800MHz 64GB G.Skill RAM Kit from HIDevolution and it's working great. super stable and snappy as heck it felt like a new laptop upgrading from my previous 64GB 2133 MHz. RAM

It is great that they can satisfy your needs!

I also want to say the same thing as @Phoenix , getting the fastest possible RAM could change everything, as I had seen benchmarks, and 2800MHz G.Skill beats up even 2400MHz ram at latency and speeds.

It's 2666, options I didn't have do to time constraints were the 4k screen and some of the G.Skill memory. Perhaps others but they didn't come up. I wasn't going to go 4k anyways on this go round, maybe next time when the graphics have caught up. The mem was a little tougher question. I didn't have enough time to make the usual careful review of the various options but the alternative to not doing something now was leaving empty handed and my lappy is my TV, gaming device, music player, work computer. I love my SP4 for what it is but it's not up to being the only device. So... it may be I could have made better choices, no question. But I think she'll do and I'll be happy with the performance. To be honest, my old lappy was getting a little long in the tooth and I was having to lower settings for most games nowadays, I was almost happy it met its coffee induced final sparkarama. o_O

I see it as a plus point you didn't go for the 4K Screen, higher battery usage and higher requirements for running at the native resolution in games.

Unless you do DPI scaling, which we know how sucky it is in Windows. See:
How does anyone in his right mind buy a 4K screen laptop?

Also, for the RAM, here are the benchmarks comparing 2666 MHz vs 2800 MHz. don't worry, anything above the stock 2133 MHz is awesome:

I've pretty much went top drawer or close to it every time with ram so it's not something I've tested. I have tried el cheapo ram and learned that can be a mistake... In a related note I'm not sure I'll ever get to overclocking this one but I went k anyways just in case the bug bit. We'll see what happens down the road but I'm a little nervous about not capping the graphics. I did quickly surf through a number of gameplay benches and the 970s should have headroom until games optimized for pascal start hitting at a guess.

970 with a little overclocking should keep you well served until Pascal arrives.

Also, this machine is fully upgradable you can add anything later, RAM, new CPU, SSD, GPU, you name it, so don't worry about not getting everything maxed out at first. I didn't. then I did the following upgrades and felt like I bought a new computer altogether:

Upgrading my Eurocom Sky X9 from HIDevolution
