Just wondering. Im thinking about getting an external hard drive to back my laptop up. Any suggestions on a good hard drive to do this with .
I tried the hardware forum but have received little response.

I've never done this. But co-incidentally, today I'm repenting! :(

I use acronis True Image Home edition to backup my laptop to a file server through ethernet. It took an eternity to do a full backup since this laptop doesn't have gigabit ethernet.

I use WD MyBooks for my backup and storage. I have an old zd8000 I use as home server/media computer connected to a 500GB MyBook (which I use as my main backup/storage unit) as well as a 385GB MyBook (which backs up the backup!). Every week or so I'll update it with my np5790 files over the network overnight to keep everything tidy.

But yea, for the price, they make some pretty nice storage units and great for backups, and being usb you can just hook them up to your laptop directly, back it up, then put them away until next time.
