Well, for one thing, the screen resolution on the N61JQ-A, as you noted, is much lower than the 1600x900.

Additionally, the HD 5730w, although newer and thus DirectX11 enabled, only has a 128 bit memory bus, as opposed to the 256 bit memory bus of the GTX-280M as well as only half the shader cores of a something comparable to a 280M (like the 4870) and thus probably won't perform quite as well, although the lower resolution of the N61JQ screen will help it in that aspect.

Basically, a lot of the cost is going to the fact that the N61JQ-A only has a mid-range card (more probably comparable to, say, a GTS 160M) while the 8690 has a high end graphics card.

You pay a premium when you buy Clevo machines. So, even if the specs were the same, you would still pay about $200 more for the Clevo because of superior build quality and better display (higher contrast ratio, better viewing angles, etc.).

Theres also the plus that you can actually configure Clevo machines quite easily, and usually you get a very liberal warranty (allowing you to change components such as the CPU and the GPU).
