Why are resellers still offering the 7970M with the NP9150/P150?

It's just a general way of speak, so that people don't buy a thing that has a problem such as this and expect it to be fixed in like a month...

Well the biggest problem I had, can't even remember with which card, but basically couldn't play any game or the drivers were crashing in 5 mins to 5 mins, and lot of lag issues, which was even more problematic and they fixed it like a year later... Each driver coming, still same problem 4 me. Last problem was with GTX570, after driver update blue screen of death to any recent drivers, but this was a easy fix, but not to talk the fact that even with this card I couldn't play BF3 on minimum it goes to 10fps and less.

All the components have been returned for testing and I already waited 3 months 4 it and it's getting me pissed (but this is a defective kind of problem, not like the topic, but this is to show u what it is to get pissed with a thing )...

So you haven't been waiting for 5 months for a magical driver update?
    We still don't know
Perhaps, but it's already taken almost a while product cycle.

What does "in the near future" and "significant improvements" mean? We don't know because it hasn't happened yet.

It's about keeping the heat on AMD and clevo to fix the problem, not just sweep it under the rug.
Because the product is known to be defective. There are alternatives, IE MSI and Alienware, that perform as they should with the 7970m. Heck, at this point, the Clevo/7970M combo barely competes with the 580M, losing in many benchmarks, which is last year's tech.
There has certainly been proof that it hasn't been fixed in 5 months, which is unacceptable with the massive depreciation seen in computers. There also hasn't been proof that it CAN or WOULD be fixed via a driver update. I sure hope so, but we have to keep the pressure on or it won't get done.

Oh, I'd buy a 7970M again based on the hardware alone, but not in a machine that doesn't have the required hardware hack to make it work right.

Though with the way AMD stonewalled the community, had threads deleted, and spent 5 months (so far) fixing the problem, I'd rather go with a 580M/675M or splurge on a 680M.

I don't think you can actually state that AMD had threads deleted, but I'm open to correction. AMD Public Relations would not do that, at least not the N.A. people I talked to.

We were told the thread was taken down at Sager's request who was requested themselves by AMD. This whole situation is so suss, with still no clear fix in sight.

I think the answers to the OP is the same as "Why are people still buying the 7970M with the NP9150/P150?"

    Well...

There are people that enjoy being robbed by others... And then there are people which search, and search again what they are trying to buy.

Every thing I have (LED TV, LED MONITOR, SPEEAKERS, CLEVO W110ER [still waiting 4 it to arrive]............) First I read like 10 different reviews from different places and compared them all, if they match and I like what I see, I buy.

ps: I only buy a thing without caring for anything, when it's something that I know it's just for a temporary fix, and doesn't matter if will last or have high quality, in those cases I buy the most cheap thing...
Well to keep the heat on AMD, it won't change a thing spaming this problem on this forum.

What I agree, and is always good, is you all together go into their forums and spam those problems demanding a FIX, that will surely help to speed up things, just like in everything.

About Enduro problems... Well, I have read a few GTX680 and HD7970 comparisonl, and they all talk pretty bad about ATI recent Enduro technology, they said it's abysmal, but it's still young too.

But they didn't even tested on a Clevo to report the enduro problems (Though they still say overall it's a good GPU to buy)...

Aluminum duct tape? Really? Highest temps from a recent 64 player Close Quarters game was 71c and that was without forcing my fans at full speed (Fn+1).

    "BF3 armored kill, LoL"

Do you want to join the same full 64 player server and wait in a queue with me with identical in game graphics settings? Hopefully we'll eventually be able to be in the same team, you can squad up with me and trade screen shots with MSI Afterburner GPU usage and temp readings, as well as the in game fps meter. Then we'll see who LoL.

Back to topic, resellers are are still offering the 7970m because they are probably informing customers that issues do exist and that an update to remedy this is coming soon. I however, from PowerNotebooks.com was not informed. Spent more time in these forums in recently than in the past 1.5+ years. They are like any salesmen will do their best to make a sale.

I think he means LoL - League of Legends.

Yeah same, gtx 680 with modded vbios with a significant overclock still only gets me to 70-71c. (no mods, can't control fan on clevo)

I'm excited about the 7970m/enduro fix though, been looking to buy a 15inch laptop for a while, probably will buy the P150EM now. (IF enduro gets fixed otherwise i'll get the ideapad y580.)

That's one of the reasons... However, some people may buy 7970M because it is more cost-effective, or because it is more suitable for graphics editing, or the games they play are not listed to have problem with Enduro, etc.

So to answer the OP question, it's because there are still people willing to buy 7970M (for whatever reason) that resellers still offer the card. It's that simple

All I know is that I'm happy since this thing is way faster than the last $1500 laptop I bought 4 years ago. I can't wait for the driver update which fixes this enduro issue.

LOL....yeah, I think the Intel HD 400 integrated graphics alone are better than the 8400M GPU in my 4 year old laptop :D

Not arguing or anything.....just making a funny

Do you want to know what is really sad? I received my NP9150 in June. When I learned about the 7970m issue, I decided to buy an Ideapad Y580 with a GTX 660m for my sister. Lenovo had a great deal on one in July. Received the laptop from Lenovo --> nasty rainbow-colored artifacts in all 3D applications. This was a hardware issue, specifically what you would expect with VRAM errors. I spoke to several different technical support representatives until they agreed to refund my money.

    Process:
Called the first time: I explained that upgrading drivers did not fix the issue. They recognized it as a hardware problem and wanted to repair it (3 weeks there and back). With my recent Enduro experience, I told them I wanted a complete laptop replacement. They said I needed to escalate the problem, but that there would not be any trouble providing a full replacement.

Next representative says that they do not offer full replacements, despite overwhelming precedent, the earlier conversation, and a small note in my warranty that disagreed with the rep. He finally agrees to it, but says it will take several weeks to manufacture it. I escalate again.

I finally talk to someone much higher in Lenovo. At this point, I just want my money. He WOULD NOT authorize the money's release until I spoke to ANOTHER technical support representative. By this point, I have demonstrated the issue to 3 or 4 people.

Talk to the next guy, who immediately recognizes it as a hardware issue. He notifies the previous guy, who authorizes the refund. He claims the refund will take several weeks (just for Lenovo to process it, not for my credit card company to acknowledge it). I went ballistic. He directed me to their accounting department, who provided a credit the next day.

    Time lost: 3 weeks.
    Faith lost in humanity: 100%
Ultimately purchased: An NP9130 with an nVidia GTX 670m. Works beautifully.
