Hi,
I bought two maxwell cards, clevo 980m and clevo 970m. they had defective mosfets which i replaced and the cards are working again. both are g-sync cards.
because of that i could not install a driver in windows for testing, but to my surprise they work perfect in Xubuntu 18.04.
everything works, even brightness control - it seems the nvidia linux driver doesn't seem to care about hardware id and bios restrictions.
can someone explain why and if it is possible to mod a driver for windows to make these cards work in non g-sync machines?
there is no gsync function, but full 3d capabilities and hardware acceleration. I'm using stock xmg bios and the cards are not modified either.
Thank you

Why does G-sync card work in Linux but not in Windows? (P370sm-a)
