I've been looking for portable and powerful laptop for a few months now. I had seen the specifications on a Sager laptop,
liked it, and asked for my acquaintance's opinion on it. He directed me to ResellerRatings.com, which has Sager at the very low
rating of 3.67 out of 10 from 39 reviews. Seeing that most on this board find Sager products well made, what's going on here?

I can for one say the enduro was a real and big issue that was never resolved by clevo and AMD. This took a huge hit on the owners admiration and respect for their clevo's which were known prior to the EM series. I also feel poor exterior finish (the touchpad for eg also the glossy bezels around the screen, etc) have been synonymous with clevo builds although they have made progress in these areas but very slightly. However, one area which is NOT talked about much is longevity. For me this was the final straw with EM series owners unable to upgrade to the current 780m's or 8970m. This IMHO shows poor engineering and software support(bios) from the manufacturer(Clevo) to owners. It also reflects that Clevo does not want to support their products and would rather sell new ones and follow this cycle annually.
Given these issues and Sager/Clevo's inability to give owners what they really want (Bang for Buck- max performance, great price and GPU longevity{2 annual cycles at least}, like HM series) I have decided to move on to Alienware as shown in my sig. I will still use my classic HM as it really is/was a great notebook and introduced me to portable gaming on a notebook and allowed me to change the screens, O/C my 6990m and now upgrade the GPU to a 680m. For one it has never let me down and has performed brilliantly in every task I have ever done with it and TBH I have just ran about every game out there to date and it still plays them beautifully KUDOS to Clevo for that....
My time with the Alienware will be interesting but moreso, will give me plenty of scope to upgrade to the latest and the greatest GPU's which is what I love about this philosophy of Alienware. As a hardcore gamer, this sets precedence in my view and it should have been the number 1 priority for Clevo but in retrospect I see them in 2013/2014 changing the goal posts and moving into an unfamiliar surroundings with their new SM series notebooks... to which I am not sure what type of buyer they sale-pitching this to..... Hobbyist, gamers, purists, loyalists? I can't put my finger on that one...
Good luck to all and see you on the other side of the moon

Most of those resellerratings are at least 3 years old so they don't seem to accurately reflect the build quality of the newer models. If you want better service, go through a Sager Reseller as suggested. They seem to be much more customer orientated.
Is tron2^ seems to be suggesting that if you had an Ivy Bridge Alienware laptop then you could upgrade the say 680 you had in it to a 780, with support from Alienware?
"My time with the Alienware will be interesting but moreso, will give me plenty of scope to upgrade to the latest and the greatest GPU's which is what I love about this philosophy of Alienware."
Surely it is obvious that Clevo "would rather sell new ones" that spend time and money on offering and supporting upgrade GPU paths? I know this is a hotly debated topic on here, I am not interested in the argument per say but more on tron2^'s comments that Alienware will support GPU upgrades cross Intel platform where Clevo will not. -
Sagernotebooks has always had a poor resellerratings rating. They aren't customer service oriented which is why it is best to go through resellers. I can guarantee 90%+ of those issues are related to customer service and not the product itself. As noted, check out the resellers' ratings and they are all A ratings.

Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Most of their poor ratings are because of customer service as HTWingNut mentioned. When you go through a reseller you just contact them for everything regarding your computer from sales questions, tech support, and setting up warranty/service. As MrDJ mentioned many have reps here and are happy to help out!

Also, when you order through one of said resellers (and then some), you're getting the same product anyway. Same system quality + customer service oriented business.
Why does Sager have such horrible ratings on ResellerRatings.com?
