Why doesn't HIDEvolution offer the P640HK and N850HK?

Question is in the title. I'm interested in purchasing a notebook from them, but everything they have is either too big, too heavy (or both), or too expensive (or all three). Obviously I want to wait for Coffee/Cannonlake, Ryzen 2, Navi and Volta to be released, but still, worth asking now.

I don't see the P640 like anywhere with U.S. resellers/oems. So whatever magical entity is supplying HID with their Clevos probably doesn't carry it. Either that or they also didn't request it and no one in the U.S. wants it. That may even be more likely who knows. I'm just speculating.

N850 I'm not sure. I can't remember them ever carrying N series clevos.

@Donald@HIDevolution or @Ted@HIDevolution are the only ones who would be able to give a real answer.

The P640 is not available in the US Market.

We do not carry the Clevo N series, we only carry the P series. However we do carry models with every NVIDIA GPU from the 1050 to the 1080.

Feel free to call me to discuss fitting the right model to your needs.

    A pity. I would've liked a more reasonably-priced 13-14" notebook with a GTX 1050 Ti/GTX 1060. The AW13 and GS43VR are way too expensive for their price bracket.

Is there a reason why/why not?

According to a sales rep here that I asked: There isn't enough demand, and the price point is a bit in excess, especially when compared to similar 15.6" models.

Don't you guys get your laptops directly from Clevo? Would it be possible to order them or a specific quantity is needed?

We do! The answer to your second question: It's really up to management.

There are pretty stout Minimum Order Quantities...and demand doesn't match the minimum.

I'm surprised, because other competing 13-14" models are all significantly more expensive, even more so than more powerful 15" models. For example, the AW13 is sold by HIDEvolution at ~US$1700, whereas a default-configuration P650HS-G sells at roughly $150 cheaper.

    What gives?

Smaller packages are usually more expensive.

Also, comparing Alienware pricing to EVOC pricing will almost always find the EVOC price to be less than a comparable Alienware.

That's what I was getting at: This model appears to be in lower demand, yet a higher cost than comparable, if not more capable, models in the 15" class. Personally, I think the P640 is a cool little system, but I certainly can't fault gamers/enthusiasts for wanting a little more for a little less.

But then why are people buying the Aero 14?

That's exactly what I asked. The P640 is significantly cheaper than the Aero 14, AW13, GS43VR, etc.

Granted it's a 1050Ti and not a 1060N, but the GS43VR is pretty much designed to die quickly and the Aero 14 barely works with liquid metal. AW13 I don't know enough about.

But if the 1060N is the qualifying factor, then I get it.

It really is a demand issue, typically the smaller models like this are less popular in the US.

Do you have sales figures for it within the U.S? Showing the powers that be how the Aero 14 is doing might get the P640 some love (emphasis on "might").

I don't have them, though, I quoted your post asking for "but I certainly can't fault gamers/enthusiasts for wanting a little more for a little less" wanting to know why the Aero 14 (in particular) was chosen, since even with liquid metal, running propped up playing a game like The Division (vsynced) with only 80% GPU load, using max fans, managed to sit almost at the thermal throttle point after a while. I just don't see how this is a machine someone who wants more would take, because it certainly doesn't deliver that (especially if they don't get/use Liquid Metal on it).

Then again the P640HK1 I heard can find the 1050Ti a little too warm some times, so... the arguement probably goes around? I don't know how the P640HK1 when cooling-tuned handles it though (mainly since people don't have it).

On message boards? Does it ever!

No, I understand your point, though. I figure it's a matter of marketing, brand recognition, market penetration, etc. (in addition to supply and demand).
