Dell and others are using the Hitachi E7K200 in their systems why not Sager? I noticed the only 3GB/S SATA 300 drives listed in the build configuration list the Seagate. Don't get me wrong I think the Seagate is fast and stable, but from what I see is that the E7K200 is faster and real stable under stress. See links. What do you think?

well, you can always ask your vendor for a specific HDD (eg. Hitachi E7K200)..most of them should have no problem with ordering it for you - just call whoever is your reseller and ask them..or get no-HDD option and go to Newegg or ZipZoomFly or any other e-tailer :p

..after all, we are talking CUSTOM notebooks here, right? ;)

The E7K200 has 16MB Cache the Seagate 8MB. The E7K200 has the faster Average Seek (ms) 10, the Seagate 11. Again, I think the Seagate is an excellent choice. But for myself as well as I believe others would prefer a 200GB hard drive that has the specs of the E7K200.

I have looked at this drive "Hitachi E7K200" and think it is a good choice. But I think the seagate is more durable (just my thoughts). Give it some and priceing to even out some more. More is always better, faster is always better and maybe on the next go around Sager will get the contract with hitachi. It probably came dow to bottom line numbers and the quantity they could get gaurrented from the respective vendor. 7200 160 and up drives for laptops were pricy a few months back the just went with a more economical choice at the time.

If you look at the 200gb 2.5 Seagate drive specs... If has 16mb of cache on the 200gb drive... So I am not sure why you are saying it is faster...

I think your looking in the wrong area.

Also its the fastest back in May...

Seagate has a 200gb with the same features...

The worlds fastest 200gb doesn't mean its faster than a 160GB..

Seagate is the best brand period, is the most reliable, and that's the most important thing in the HDD world.

and FYI Hitachi's hdds are known as Deathstar, for a reason.
