Quick one, I was asking myself why Clevo only offers super glossy surface on the NP 8660 if you take a resolution of 1680x1050 but only matte surface if you go to 1920x1200. I'd have thought a lot of ppl would prefer gloss at highest resolution...any technical reason behind this?

I have a side-bar for you. I was the biggest opponent of matte screens. The old style of notebook matte screens were terrible. That said this must be a completely different process and they probably shouldn't be called matte, they should call them luster or something. In the graphics world that's between glossy and matte.
The new matte screens really do a good job of cutting down glare yet are still bright. If you're going to use it outside or where a lot of either natural or artificial light shines down or from the side... I would consider matte.
To your question as to why: It's all about what the LCD suppliers marketing research tells them. In the past Clevo has used LG/Phillips and Samsung on different models. The WSXGA+ used to be available in matte and not the other way around. I too wonder why they switched that.

Cheers for that...pity the option doesn't exist.
Why only Matte for NP8660 @ 1920x1200?
