just a different style i guess :) some prefer to open up a new thread for every little issue, others prefer to have it in one place. both have their (dis)advantages ;) are u switching over to a clevo machine?

I just bought a new P771zm, i have a lot to tell you and ask you but Alienware forum is so easy to find and exactly where to ask...
First of all I switch to clevo because they have socked, Alienware didnt want anymore...
I bought a barebone without ram hdd and cpu
    I install a 2x4gb 1600mhz hyperx impact ram
    120gb ssd samsung evo
And a i7 5775c...i used a prema bios for the 5 th generation cpu to work but seams that clevo doesnt support 5th gen cpu only on paper...
Insted of that i7 I put in an i5 4690k that I will repaste with gelid extreme gc today also the gtx 970m...i want to oc it to 4.0ghz all 4 cores and keep it as cool as can be.

well, there is an owner´s lounge for the 17 inch ZM series right here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...d-p770zm-g-sager-np9773-owners-lounge.768770/

where u can ask your fellow clevo members everything u would like to know :) youre also welcome to pay a visit to the batcave for the 15 inch models (see my signature)

interesting that you couldnt get the 5775C to work in your system! i thought that @Prema had included broadwell support in his bios?!

ocing the 4690K to 4Ghz all cores shouldnt be a problem, also not concerning temps :)

unfortunately i dont have a gsync system so im not able to help you...but as i said before, u can try the owner´s lounges for other members sporting Gsync models :)

I dont know how to oc and undervolt a bit the i5 4690k where to put and where to get...an image of how should it look like in xtu should be best. With the i7 5775c didnt want to boot...end of story.

Okay but first may I ask why you want to OC? are there certain programs you will be using that will benefit from the OC? and everyone's system has different silicon so everyones OC might be slightly different but largely they will be close to the same. I only ask because if you aren't going to be doing any CPU intensive applications there really is no reason to OC as the stock speed should be fine, also I think that i7 5775 should work on that laptop with prema mod bios are you sure you have the newest version of the prema mod bios? if you still want to OC after reading all this let me know I will do my best to try and help you

in xtu, u can increase the multiplier for all four cores to 40 and hit apply. if it doesnt stick or is unstable, increase the Vcore voltage in 5mV steps until its stable. if its already stable at stock voltage, u can decrease the voltage in 5mV steps to help with temps. u can check for stability using occt / prime95 / xtu stress stest and benchmark, etc

Same here (p377sm-a, upgraded from an MSI of some sort that I now have running as a home server). However, after posting here for a while, it's not that bad.

Have you graphed your core clock to make sure the oc is nice and consistent.

You can't come to Clevo and not read an HTWingNut review of your model with G-Sync. ;)

what do you mean "graph" the core clock? does your clock speed of your gpu need to be a constant even if you are getting the same fps? I always figured if I am getting the same good fps maybe the speed doesn't need to be max if I am getting proper performance

When overclocking a power limited board it's good to check your overclock is stable and not causing uncessary clock variations that will hurt performance over helping it.

Also a graph is usually a plot of data and typically uses the X axis as time and the Y axis to record the data points recorded as time goes on (there are other ways of graphing data of course but this is the most common).

@Meaker Yah I know what a graph is lol, but thanks, I would like to make a graph of how my cards are running to make sure they are stable, I use the common OC of 100/100 sometimes, I don't always run them OC'd, anyways what program should I use to plot the graph out? Thanks

MSI afterburner will do that in the monitoring area :), it's the nicest way of doing it quickly, other programs will output to a text file you can put in excel but that should not be needed.

What would the graph look like to constitute the gpu's running properly? What should I be looking for?

I'm not sure what the specific numbers would be for your GPUs, but essentially you're looking for throttling. If it's it's dropping consistently below the base clock + your overclock, then it's a sign the overlock may not be as good as expected.

I haven't done enough of that to be able to tell you exactly how big of a dip might be problematic, but I'm sure you could always post a picture and someone would help you out.

Yeah, I just got caught up reading your other thread. Really sorry to hear about what happened. We can all certainly relate to how disappointing it is to probably have to send your laptop back and be without it for a bit. :(

Best of luck getting it fixed.

Yah I am just hoping it will be a smooth process to get through, I have heard some horror stories of the RMA process, I would be really upset if they fix this only for something else to be broken...I know for sure I will go back to win 8.1 and I suggest anyone else to do so also, from other forums I am reading windows 10 has broken tons of displays on the Alienware laptops.
