I have posted a thread about how my Wifi (Intel 5300agn) acted weird on my NP5796 before....after messing around with different settings/downgrading and upgrading drivers, the problem is still here.
The problem is : when I first start up the computer and log in to windows, the wifi won't connect itself automatically, it will always says "unidentified network" or "local access only". I have to manually click "diagnose and repair" or use Fn+F11 to shut the wireless off and turn it back on for it to work. Interestingly when i restart the machine 9 out of 10 the wifi will work and pickup the internet immediately. But when I shut down the PC and turn it back on, the same problem will repeat again.
I have the same router and no setting has changed on that side. My Dell and the Gateway 7811fx + 6831fx i used to have worked fine with it. Do any of NP5796 owners have experienced the same problem?
One more thing: The WEI for the ram on this machine is kinda low (5.0). I followed the instruction on one post and updated the chipset driver but the score hasn't changed. I wonder what it is...![]()

I have heard of it happen on other notebooks too.
It can have a few resolutions:
- update to latest drivers
- set the Wireless Card's properties to Max Performance, and disable Power Saving mode
- make sure the wires on the wireless module is properly secured.
if all of the above has been tried, then I recommend to contact your vendor and have them send you a new wifi card, then you send the old one back when you receive the new one (this is called "cross-shippping") -
I have just unplugged and reinstalled the wireless module and it didn't help the situation at all. Still having to turn it off/on everytime for it to work. I tired a usb wireless adapter and it worked like it should....I guess I am just have to exchange a new wifi card. But all the 5796 users out here, would you please report if your laptop have similar problem? Thanks.

I think if others were having this problem you would have had some replies by now. just rma your wireless card and have your reseller cross ship you a new one

I have the same issue, but I just hit fn F11 to shut off the wifi for second then click it again..
Also, my playstation 3 used to cause this issue to start happening anytime i turned it on/off, it would disconnect me, i had to manually change the ip address of the ps3.. -
i have same problem with my wifi turned on for seconds then off for seconds ....just clean unistall ...remove any driver traces in your windows then install clean driver again....should work fine...
