I am considering either a NP6350 or 9150 - I would prefer WIN7 so does that mean I need to purchase prior to the release of WIN8 on Oct 26th?
BTW, I would buy it through Reflex in Canada.

    Thanks in advance.

Microsoft will pretty much stop selling win 7 so after supply at builders is gone it will get harder to find.
I ordered my system early just because of this reason. Only other opition would be to buy a copy of
win 7 and hang on to it if you are waiting to buy system.

If not available from resellers then it will be available as standalone from online stores for some time to come. You can still buy XP and Vista even though XP isn't officially supported any more.

They will probably provide it as long as they still have copies to provide. After that, you will have to buy it from somewhere else.

I'm not sure about that. Many (most?) OEMs will offer both operating systems for their customers and Microsoft's official answer on when retail sales will end is " to be determined" as far as I know.

I thought Microsoft said at one point that the Win8 would not be a successor to the Win7, but rather a co-existing product.

There is too much demand for Windows 7 for the OS to be cut short like that. You will for sure be able to buy standalone copies at all stores selling Windows well after release. You should ask the reseller you will buy from how long they will have Windows 7 as an option.
