I have the clevo P370sm with 780m sli. I wanted to upgraded the graphics cards to 970m sli.

Will it work, just plug and play or do I need some special bios or something.

And how much faster are the 970m sli vs 780m sli in performance. I will sell both 780m's and upgrade for about $150 to the 970m's. I would like to know if its worth the upgrade to people.

I believe they should work but you should get the prema bios mod (google) and I think you might need the vbios also, not sure how much faster it will be since I don't have experience with the 780m or 970m but I have 980m's in sli and its major over kill for any current game.......how are you getting 2 970m's for $150 I thought they cost like ALOT more than that...

I will sell both of my 780m's and buy both 970m. The upgrade cost will be about $150.

I went ahead and bought both 970m from R&J tech, got them the other day and installed them yesterday.
I updated the laptop bios with Prema bios mod and happy to say that both 970m's work just perfectly.

The laptop is about 20% faster in games, the fans are much quieter and total laptop power drop is about 50 watts less vs the 780m sli.

I just extended the life of my laptop for another year for $127, both of the older 780m already sold within the 1st day of the ebay listing.

That's the nice thing about mxm modules keeping their value. There is a lot of ocing room later on if you want it too.

Oh yea, the temps dropped about 18C. I'm not kidding either. The highest temperatures I have seem so far is 68C at 100% for about 30 minutes.

The only issue is the fan is always on at the lowest setting even if the GPUs are not being. With the 780s, the fans would sometimes shut off but never with the 970m's.

And I still need to find some good drivers. Some times the laptop does not turn on with AC power. So I have to start it with battery power only then it starts up, I would say it happens about 40% of the time. The issues seems to be graphics card drivers.

I currently have the newest one, 353.30 on windows 8.1 OS.

The drivers can't impact the machine starting as they are only loaded as windows loads, before that (during the POST) it's all firmware and hardware controlling everything.

Sometimes the screen goes dark. That is when I know the laptop wont turn on and have to do a hard restart without the AC plugged in.

You could try flashing the Bios/EC again.
