Um I am looking into slot loaded DVD drives instead of the normal flimsy trays. Now reading some of the posts I noticed that people suggested the Pioneer DVR-K06 drive or the DVR-K05. Now the question is will this fit in the 5760. I mean does the 5760 come with a standard drive or is it modded. Also will the benzel line up nicely? Other drive suggestions welcome.

A slot-load drive will not fit in the NP5760; it's design is different from a standard drive. See the bottom right corner:

Jack tried one in his 5720 and confirmed it. My 5320 has the same type of drive as well.

Any reason one couldn't do a little surgery to the slot-loader's bezel? Probably not something like a Dremel (too much vibration/dust), but perhaps a hot wire (like a battery-powered cautery device) to cut the notch out and make it fit?

You can change the benzel on an ordinary drive (you need to swap benzels if you plan to replace the 5760's drive), but on a slot loader, this is not possible.

    PKshah,

    there are external solutions:

Digistor Slim Slot Loading External (USB2 & FireWire) DVD R/RW/RAM Super Multi Drive 8X
    [IMG]

    Liteon SLW-831SX External Slot-In Type Slim DVD-RW

No one would recommend you modding you drive to fit, because the IC board might not even fit into the drive bay.

haha, lol, one more piece of hardware to carry around!!, I dont think thats gonna work. Only reason I'd get it is to replace what I have on the computer right now. I mean sure I can replace my DVD-RW in the laptop with another harddrive and use this. I dont know, its possible.
