    Hey all,

Have had my clevo p170hm for a week now and just curious with something. From memory when I first installed win 7 64 bit I had a familiar startup sound after the welcome screen.

Now after doing windows update I don't seem to get it anymore. Is this normal for one user account which has administrator privileges?

If I use the logon screen or add a second user account it produces a sound but not this one:

Microsoft Windows 7 Startup Sound - YouTube

Any ideas? I uninstalled realtek hd sound drivers enabled/disabled under sound options but no luck... do others get the customary win 7 startup sound after or at the welcome screen?

Go to control panel, Sound and then "Sounds" tab to either set the sound theme to default or set your Windows Logon sound.

Tried that I get nothing on bootup...no sounds at all..

Even did sfc /scannow and no issues discovered..

Just really weird that there was once a startup sound and now none..
Hope some others can confirm it does work on their p170hm clevo..

There should be the welcome sound after booting and another after logging in. If sounds are on and you already checked the control panel to see if it's set, I can't think of what else would have disabled it.

    Thnx 4 ya help guys..

Yeah I just realized there are multiple audio hd in the sound and registry. Like when you open winamp and select the sound driver there is the primary driver but all of a sudden I see multiple sound drivers of the same thing?

    Really weird... I guess I will re-format C and re-install Win 7.
    Thnx all..

Well I re-installed Windows 7 and still it does it but found out that if i have my blue ray slot open whilst the windows loading up screen occurs and then quickly insert it before the welcome screen the audio will work.

    Strange occurrence.
edit: also found that running on battery the sound will be played..looks like ssd is too fast for win 7
