    Fellow Sager owners.

We buy these fantastic laptops from Sager and they come pre-installed with Windows Vista.

Then MS decides to come out with Windows 7, and offers a great little upgrade price.

WILL THE UPGRADE DISK work on our systems with the pre-installed windows vista, or do you REALLY need a RETAIL copy in order to upgrade.... if so thats kind of lousy and is there anyway to get SAGER to send us a legit retail copy so we can upgrade?

You can order now until July 11th for half prices on the upgrades from many stores. Amazon, newegg, bestbuy, etc.

Of course it will work it's an upgrade. You're basically going from your existing Vista OS to Windows 7 OS with the upgrade disc.

Unless you want to completely reformat and install Windows 7. The FULL retail Windows 7 OS will need to be purchased.

That's not true. You can do a clean install with an upgrade version as well.

Wouldnt the setup detect Vista and then ask if you would like a clean install or upgrade?

Please don't spread wrong information. A simple check in this OS section of the forums can find you the answer. Google can find you answer in the first search as well. It will work the same way as you could clean install VISTA from XP.

First you have to go from XP to 2k, to ME, to OSX, to Vista, to 95, and then to Seven.

Yes, you can easily make the transition to Windows Seven from XP. Many users are planning to take the route and they are going to be happy with the decision.
