Hello,
So windows 10 will offically be here in a few more hours I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread about it and to have a place for people to ask questions I know I have a few of my own questions such as I have heard there are problems with windows 10 and Nvidia graphics cards? Should we use a windows 10 driver for our graphics card, or do we even have a choice if we don't want to as I have heard there is no way to stop updates on windows 10? Which leads to another of my questions is it true we have to get all the updates as there is no way to pick and choose which updates you want and which updates you don't? After I download the windows 10 upgrade is there a way to do a full refresh install or is it just an upgrade that installs over windows 8.1? because I have had problems with just upgrading installs in the past? If this thread should be somewhere else please admin feel free to move it thanks everyone...

We will see whether it's addressed in time or not.

I've always seen graphics driver updates listed in the "optional" section of Windows update. I believe the forced updates is likely to only apply to critical updates, as Microsoft is probably sick of getting a bad rap for Windows being virus prone, while often the problem is with people who don't ever update their computers. I would think OS bug and security patches wouldn't be very likely to cause issues with games/graphics. Time will tell how broad the scope of forced updates is.
-
So has anyone upgraded to windows 10? Please tell us how was your experience with the whole process???? Are you having any problems?? iF so, then what? lol Would just love to know more about any problems people are having BEFORE I decided to install it, and why do they have to make it so hard to do a full reformat upgrade? Anytime I have just upgraded from 1 windows to another newer version there was always something wrong or random files in weird places taking up space they shouldn't be taking up, I am suprised they didn't make it easier to do a full reformat update @Prostar Computer have you updated any systems yet? and @YAYTech yes they are forcing ALL updates you can't pick and choose which I really don't like the idea of that....especially with all the problems people are having with the Nvidia drivers they are forcing

Kinda scared to install the W10 version of AMD 15.7.
I installed W10 earlier today and got a hard crash after installing 15.7. I was unable to access W10 afterwards (error: inaccessible boot device)
As I posted in the other thread. I also have a few PCI errors. I googled them and I'm almost certain one has to do with the fingerprint reader (which I've never used) the other ( ROOT\AMPPAL\0000) looks like it's related to BT. I'm not even sure if I opted in for BT when I purchased my laptop. It's never worked for me anyway.
Also, my Creative Sound Blaster Go! Pro software is completely incompatible. It still functions, I just can't use the console. -
I was also wondering if there are any drivers I should uninstall before I do the Win10 update? Such as my gpu drivers from Nvidia and/or the experience center? Also the fingerprint drivers should I uninstall those? Is there anything at all that I should do before installing Win10 that might effect the update and/or cause problems? Thanks

Clean install, all hardware and drivers fine.
353.62 W10 64 bit working well, overclock also fine with Inspector. HDMI video/audio output fine. LCD overdrive also working. All 980M functions I had in 8.1 working in 10.
Windows 10 will be my daily OS based on my experience today, I see no reason to revert back to 8.1 or 7.Last edited: Jul 30, 2015Marecki_clf likes this. -
Well I don't want to loose a lot of things and go through having to install everything again so I was going to try the just update upgrade then if I have serious probs do a clean install

I created an ISO using Microsoft Media Creation Tool. From this ISO I created a bootable USB using Microsoft Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool. I performed OS upgrade from the USB - no issues here. After the upgrade I noticed, that my GTX980M was running at reduced clocks in 3D applications. I downloaded latest 353.62 driver with modded .inf from laptopvideo2go.com. I removed previous driver using Display Driver Uninstaller and then installed the 353.62. Everything works as it should, I am not going back.

upgraded from 8.1 to 10 yesterday, all went smoothly, just two irks so far: intel xtu not working anymore, had to manually set cpu/ram config in prema bios and my gpu meter gadget aint showing gpu core clock anymore, but thats about it. planning to do a clean install once i find the time, upgrade is just a temporary solution, would never keep such a system as a daily driver for long...
be aware that u have to do an upgrade first in order to upgrade ur win7/8.1 license to a legal win10 license before u can do a clean install!

Wonder why xtu isn't working, hoping they get that fixed soon....okay so you HAVE to do the upgrade at least at first then after that you can do a fresh install? interesting....thanks
-
Anyone install from a P150EM yet? Also I plan to clean install after test driving the upgrade. With the exception of a few things (like GPU, Wifi card, etc) will most of the drivers I use be the ones that I had already from Win 8 or will Win 10 have that covered?
-
Well guess I have no choice I woke up this morning opened my laptop and I was on Windows 10 so some how over the night my laptop automaticlly installed Windows 10.....not really happy about that as I wanted to wait a while but nothing I can do about it now

Installed 10 on my 8650 with a GTX 965M with the latest driver which was released yesterday and have had zero video related issues
I did have problems with the realtek Ethernet driver which I fixed by installing a Windows 7 driver for it. Which is odd, because I upgraded from Win 8.1 and the Ethernet worked fine with the latest driver. -
took 10-15 min tops to install on an almost full SSD. so far i'm liking all the features and how it runs. every game i've opened has worked so far. havent tried any overclocking yet
-
Yah mine downloaded and installed overnight all by it self pretty odd no probs so far although I wish there was a way to be able to select which updates I do or don't want.... Anyone know how to do that?

I'm enjoying Windows 10 so far.
I have a W355SS (Schenker XMG A504), the only thing I'm missing is Sound Blaster Cinema.
Can't wait for it to work :/Marecki_clf and t456 like this. -
Been using Windows 10 since the early technical previews. Never had any problems on my desktop and P751ZM, except for XTU that stopped working and would not install (and still doesn't) on the last 2 technical preview builds and the final release.

Which Hotkey version works with W10?

I upgraded my NP9380-S with sli 780ms to 10 last night. I haven't had any issues. All benchmarks I've run have had a slight increase in performance, though I have noticed that my CPU and GPU temps run far hotter than before. I am using custom a BIOS and vBIOS.
-
well on my NP9377sm-a with 980m sli temps are pretty much the same, but now that you said something about this I will monitor them more closely just to make sure, thanks for posting this....anyone who has any problems please let me know so I can keep a look out, so I can decided if I want to stay windows 10 or go back to 8.1 since my laptop has a mind of its own and decided to download and install windows 10 overnight without me saying to do so...thanks everyone
-
yeh cannot open xtu which installed before upgrade anymore. however, the oc setting still there.
-
I am using hotkey v14.0.0.162 with win10 works fine, I am also using XTU and it works fine, so far I haven't had any problems at all except for the back I never told my computer to download or install windows 10 which is pretty big
-
I downloaded the Windows 10 Pro ISO to a USB drive. I was able to upgrade to Windows 10 from my (Windows 7 Pro) NP8651 laptop. The install performed without a hitch. All my apps seem to be working as well as the data. There was one issue that I encountered. The first time I ran "CPUID HWMonitor" (3rd party diagnostic), it bombed out with a BSD. BUT, Windows 10 detected the issue and gracefully recovered from it after one reboot. I've yet to have another BSD with that app. As for games, I play Skyrim and haven't noticed any difference.

Still can't use Sound Blaster Cinema :/
Found a Sound Blaster Cinema 2 on XMG download page, but it doesn't work. -
Sound Blaster Cinema requres Specific Drivers for each software revision.
My w370st could install version 7.0001 to 7.0004 on windows 7 fine but any version higher and it wouldnt detect device even though its same UI.
XTU worked fine here
HotKey Worked Fine Both version 7.000 with the ugly overlay icons and Version 8 with the better ui and non intrusive icons.
Webcam you guys better Test. Mine wasnt installed but didnt show as not installed. Used the windows 7 driver fine. -
Anyone try the Intel Iris beta drivers for W10?
-
Audio isn't as good as I wanted it to be :/
I'll wait a little bit more, but I'm thinking about going back to Windows 8.1. -
-
-
Do you have the installer for the Windows 8.1? -
I'm talking about the hotkey app, not XTU, sorry.

Hi all, installed Win10 on Clevo P770ZM-G. All drivers except two installed automatically:
1) SMBus Controller: Resolved by installing Intel chipset driver from intel.com
2) Insyde Airplane Mode Switch. A driver installs from Windows update, but it shows up with a yellow ! in device manager. Anyone have any suggestions what to install for that?
N
Update: Installed Airplane Mode Switch Driver from Clevo and problem resolved.
Also, for any one else with the fingerprint sensor; I had to install that from Clevo as well as Clevo's is much newer than one installed by Windows Update. After doing that, I am able to login with fingerprint on Win10.Last edited: Jul 31, 2015Meetloaf13 likes this. -
Hope you can fix it -

Whats crazy is that as part of my windows 10 update installation some how it updated any and all programs that I had that were out dated...including XTU...I suggest go to google.com and type XTU 6.0.2.1 should come right up

Since upgrading my P170SM to Windows 10 my turbo/GPU fan is always on. Really loud and annoying. Any suggestions?

How do you know the GPU is not turning off?
-
My NP7155 touchpad has stopped working on startup a couple of times. Rebooting does not solve the issue. I've had to plug in an external mouse and reinstall the W8 touchpad driver available on Sager's website. I don't know what's going on but it doesn't look like Windows is installing a touchpad driver from the looks of my update history.

I'm looking to upgrade my P150EM (prema bios) from Windows 8.1 to 10 soon. After I do the upgrade path I plan to clean install the OS. For Windows 8 I'd typically do the following driver installs. Are there any changes I should make or any drivers I don't need to install from the following:
1. Chipset (Sager website W8 ver)
2. Graphics (Intel and GeForce websites latest ver)
3. LAN (Sager website W8 ver)
4. Card Reader (Sager website W8 ver)
5. Touchpad (Sager website W8 ver)
6. Hotkey (Sager website W8 ver)
7. IME (Sager website W8 ver)
8. Audio (Sager website W8 ver)
9. WLAN (Intel website latest ver)
10. THX (Sager website W8 ver)
11. Fingerprint (Sager website W8 ver) -
