    Hey guys,

I have an NP8651 laptop. I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and haven't had any issues yet. I noticed that Sager has recently posted Windows 10 drivers. I've downloaded a few and installed them. There were others that I was about to install, such as the Control Center, but Windows 10 said that they were unsafe to install and might put my PC at risk. Should I disregard that message and install the software?

    TIA,

    grecinos

If you are getting the ones directly from Sager's site you should be good to go. If you are getting them from a 3rd party site, then you might want to be cautious with those ones. But coming from the manufacturer directly, that is probably the best place to get them.

Windows may have given you that notice just as an extras caution, just like when you try to install most programs. There should be no problems with them.

Do you have a link to the sager page where I can download the Windows 10 drivers? I sent an email to tech support asking about Windows 10 drivers and they told me it wouldnt be available for another month atleast.

Since that model is no longer made they probably will not add Windows 10 drivers. The NP8258 is its replacement so try those drivers and see if you get what you need.

Thanks Hutsady. I will try that when I am back home tonight. FWIW.. I was able to get most of the stuff to work. Whats not working right now are mainly the fingerprint reader and the touchpad gestures. The basic touchpad works. And I have also noticed that if I run the "Fingerpad Sensing" app, then it tends to crash my system. But TBH, it was doing that even before I upgraded to Windows 10. I think there was some other windows update before 10 that started this. The laptop keyboard and touchpad would stop working. But my externally connected keyboard, mouse and graphics tablet would work just fine. And eventually the system would suddenly turn off. I wasnt able to find out what was causing the issue while troubleshooting like looking at the event viewere logs or anything.

You can check Clevo's site and see if they have an updated version of the Egis finger print driver. Also, the newest drive for the touchpad to enable to the gestures again possibly. I would try the drivers for the 8258, as Hutsady said.

You could try downloading it directly from Sentelic, see if that will work?

I have tried that before. But I can't find a link to download drivers from their website. The only ones I find are third party untrustworthy sites like http://www.driverscape.com/download/finger-sensing-pad

Even tried downloading the one from Lenovo's site for Windows 10. That gave me an "unrecognized system" error message.

Have you tried extracting the executable and manually updating the driver in the device manager? That works sometimes.

Unfortunately there is going to be hardware that doesn't work with 10 at all for now much like every other OS release. I was fortunate that almost everything worked out of the box and the things that didn't work worked with the old 8.1 drivers.

It's best to avoid the third party driver packages/locators (for lack of a better name), as well as other OEMs drivers. They rarely work and are more apt to produce problems.

Windows is configured to not install its own driver through Windows updates, right?
