Hey. This is just a general question about your experiences with upgrading to Windows 7. I am a gamer (Team Fortress 2, L4D, Fallout, etc) and I have been wandering the forums trying to get people's reactions to Windows 7 64 bit.
I am currently running XP 32 bit, so I feel like it would be a big leap to jump to W7 but I am concerned about all the negative feedback I have been reading about [Issues with drivers, compatibility, lack of drivers, the sound card issues/crackling].
So is it worth it? Do you love it? Hate it?

Well, if you are currently running XP/32 then your only option is to do a fresh install of Windows 7. In my opinion that's the best way to go anyway.
I am running Windows 7 Pro 64bit on my NP9280 (D900f). Since the Sager site had all of the Windows 7 drivers available for this model I didn't experience any trouble with the installation (OK, other than getting sound out the HDMI port).
Like you I have Steam running on it and have played L4D, L4D-2 and Borderlands on it with out any trouble.
I have not had any sound quality issues.
Windows 7 is pretty impressive. I even have it running on my atom based netbook. If you are concerned, there is a Microsoft Windows 7 evaluation tool that you can download and run on your computer. It will look at your hardware and warn you of any known issues. -
I've got a 9262, no problems here. Like tjp888 I'm quite happy with my version of Windows. It's woth it in my opinion, especially if you move up from XP (DX10/DX11).

Wow thanks for your speedy reply guys.
I forgot to ask about flashing the bios. I work with computers quite a bit, but I have never done this. Will it be neccesary to flash my bios to upgrade to W7? -

I had an XP32 system before, now Win7. It's great: fast, no problems whatssoever with drivers etc. Only BattleChess doesn't run anymore
But Win7n comes with ChessTitans, so no problem
Had no problems with games either, GTA4, Risen run flawlessly. -
I have had no problems at all on the m570tu with 64 bit. I have played wow, Call of duty modern warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 1&2 and a few other games without any problems. I did not have to update my bios, I used the same settings I used for vista.

I'm running win7 pro and my 3dmark06 score went down by 1000 points.
vista ultimate score = 10512
win7 score = 9236 -
I bought win7 ultimate 64 from my university. So far I haven't had any issues with it. I was able to do an upgrade from my vista 64bit. My 3dmarko6 score dropped about 200 points. I disabled a lot of services on win7 also. As far as drivers, dox modified worked fine and win7 update installed the rest. Everything works fine but installing xp32 for dual boot messed up my win7 install and trying to repair the installation didn't work. Had to install win7 again. If you want to dual boot with XP, I advise installing XP first, then win7. Had issues with hdmi sound for a while, but figured it out in nvidia control panel. Win7 boots quicker and organizes open windows better. If i couldn't have purchased it for 15 bucks i probably wouldn't have upgraded.
