Hi all,
I downloaded Windows 7 Professional (x64) from a msdn network named "en_windows_7_professional_x64_dvd_X15-65805".
After the long journey of backing up my files i went and installed it, it boots well with the cd and then when i click install it "please insert cd/dvd driver" :S what the f....
I own a clevo d901c and the dvd drive is a Optiarc AD-5540A
Then i went and google the problem, it seems that it happens to quite a few people and solved by upgrading the dvd drive firmware.
Went here http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/page/en/Optiarc-AD-5540A/ and downloaded the "Original Optiarc AD5540A firmware 2.01".
Then downloaded the BinFlash http://binflash.cdfreaks.com/#download and flashed the drive.
Then again after all that windows 7 installation has the same issue.
Anyone has the same issue on a similar dvd drive? Is there a way to fix it? will it be fixed on windows retailed version?

As an alternative, you can install from a thumbdrive.
There are a ton of "How-to" articles on the web that take you through the steps of creating a bootable thumbdrive. That way you won't have to keep fighting your DVD. Just google it.
Of course, there's a good chance that once you got W7 installed it still might not recognize your DVD. -
Problem solved, downloaded a more recent version of windows and worked fine
