I am running Windows 8 RTM on my P170EM with the 7970m. I am having issues with some of the metro apps. They open and immediately close. I think it could be a display adapter issue with the 7970m. I am currently running the 12.9 beta driver from leshcatlabs.

Anyone else having issues opening metro apps? If so, any thoughts toward this?

That doesn't sound so much as a driver issue rather a strange bug in the release candidate. Have you generated any crash reports?

It is displaying some error logs on the applications that fail. I will and contact Microsoft about the logs. Reading around, this is a very common problem occurring.

Typically the case with software so early on in it's life cycle. I imagine you'll be seeing a slew of updates as the launch gets closer.

Can you post which apps you are having problems with? I am running the RTM as well as well as the 7950m. I have not seen this particular issue so far, but I have not tried all of the apps.

I have the exact same problem. Windows 8 RTM with an AMD 6770M with the HP Catalyst 12.9 drivers. Some of the apps that don't work are Skype and Multimedia8, and others work just fine.

I've tried changing drivers, refreshing windows, resetting OLE and all the tricks I've found on the internet, but nothing does it.
