This probably belongs in the deals section, but I wanted to make sure my Sager/Clevo brethren saw this...

If you've purchased your new sager/clevo after June 2, 2012 (with windows 7) you are eligible for a Win 8 pro upgrade for $14.99.

Here's what you have to do:

Go to https://windowsupgradeoffer.com/en-US and enter your information with a valid email address

They will send you a registration ID

After receiving that, go to https://www.windowsupgradeoffer.com/en-US/MyOrder and enter in the registration ID. Make note of the promo-code they give you.

Then run the win 8 upgrade assistant, it will scan your computer for incompatable programs/drivers.

After it is done scanning, enter the promo code that they gave you and it will drop the price down to $14.99...

You can then save the file as an ISO or make a bootable USB drive (nice touch if you ask me).

Please note, I saw this deal at slickdeals and it worked for me...

I haven't installed it yet, but I plan on doing it because I need to know how to work win 8 so I can fix problems when customers bring in their broken new computers.

I tried to register but I received a "Not Eligible" message. I purchased my Sager from reflexnotebook.ca on July 25, 2012. Anybody else having this issue?

There shouldn't be any issues regarding this. Go ahead and contact your reseller and see if they have any insight as to why you may be experiencing this. I haven't heard from any of my customers saying they're having trouble getting the upgrade to work so probably just one of those random things.

Heh I got this upgrade process to work very easily. Running Win 8 Pro. Didn't ask for any verification or anything, very surprised. I just put in when I purchased and from who and model and done. Voila.

Thanks for the replies. I've sent an email off to my distributor to see if they have any insight regarding this issue.

Did you have to put in your Windows 7 key? If you didn't, mind sharing what you put in for from whom and model?

I just used the link above and it never asked me for a Win 7 key. I also was able to do a clean install of Win 8 with USB, I didn't do an upgrade.

You basically download a tool that needs to be run on a machine with an existing Windows XP or 7 installation. Then it downloads the setup files and you can either upgrade to Windows 8 right there or choose to do it later by creating an installation medium on a flash drive or DVD. You can use these to perform a clean install. Not sure if the upgrade offer only works for specific editions of Windows. I came from a Windows 7 Ultimate...

The upgrade offer will work from any install of Win 7 and qualifies you for the installation of Win 8 Pro through the download.
