Well, I got Windows 8 today. Need a bit of help and guidance.
I do like it, still getting used to it. I never would have imagined they would rid of the start menu but we all had to get used to the start menu before when it first appeared.
Anyways, I chose clean install option and had it completely wiped so it took a while.
I was amazed to see everything still working. only drivers I installed was the camera(which I think windows has it's own) and my 680m drivers.
To be honest, I am wondering if I need to install drivers at all.
On Sagers website, they released all new drivers for the P150em for windows 8 VIA filedrop.
My question is, are these necessary?
Also, I can't seem to record sound. My mic doesn't work. Sound does work, no "audio drivers" installed. What do you guys thinks wrong?
Here are all the newest drivers from Sager: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/prpb86rsy6m6wnv/h9V8pE3vR9 (Via DropBox)
Are they necessary?
As I write this, I have less then 50 processes running and programs/windows running/open. I am surprised.

You ask if you should install the drivers from Sagers website? Then you add that your audio doesn't work? Put your thinking cap on Please. I don't want to sound harsh but you should be able to answer your questions yourself.

Oh no, sorry for the confusion. I was up really late.
The audio works fine, the sound recorder don't and I thought that was strange.
I also thought it was a strange my p150em was functioning without installing any drivers from the sager website.
My question was does Windows 8 automatically download drivers?
Like I said I did a fresh install and have not installed anything other then the 680m drivers. So i found it odd everything works fine without them. -
Windows will automatically install some drivers, particularly if they're necessary to function (basic video drivers) or if it can recognize a device & find the right driver for it. It's likely not to install everything, though, so it's good to check Device Manager for anything obviously missing drivers, as well as update anything you suspect may need it (like your sound device drivers if recording isn't working).

i experience the same issue with the p150em/np9150's integrated mic, but i use an external usb as a sound card so i haven't installed the latest realtek audio drivers. is that what you have installed or is device manager reporting a microsoft audio driver? something else? -
Recording is working just fine for me with Realtek drivers installed..so I guess the default generic Windows audio drivers don't support all the features of the audio chip.
I could not install the Creative TruStudio and Intel Rapidstart drivers however - no compatible hardware found. Not sure if I even had the Rapidstart under Windows 7 so maybe my CPU doesn't support it. I'm also not missing the TruStudio EQ too much either since I barely ever have to rely on laptop speakers only. Everything else runs just fine except Games for Windows Live - but that's another story...

Yeah I forgot to report back. You guys are right, you need the realtek drivers for the mic.
Not sure if the THX pro was necessary. You guys keep your THX? -

I ran into problems with GTAIV and Dark Souls on Steam because the default GFWL installer is not compatible with Win8. The games used to crash since GFWL failed to start.
I fixed it by following these instructions here:
Dark Souls General FAQ - Steam Users' Forums
Go to "Q. Dark Souls crashes and has a reference to XLive.dll, what do?" and follow the steps. It's about a missing xlive.dll in system32 folder. Fixed it for GTA for me, too. -
