I'm not quite sure where to post this, but I have been having problems getting Windows 8.1 Update to work correctly on my machine. I have a 2012 Sager NP9150 with GTX680M and for whatever reason, Windows 8.1 Update refuses to work with anything other than the Windows Update-found driver for Nvidia. I believe this is version 327.02. Naturally, I don't want to be stuck on an old driver version forever, but whenever I update the drivers, I get Code43 in device manager and the graphics card, nvidia control panel. and geforce experience all cease operation. The display is always fine, even with generic Windows drivers for both the Intel HD 4000 and Nvidia GTX 680M.

I am not sure what to do about this. I have tried re-installing Windows 8.1 from scratch (I have an 8.1 ISO file from University, so that's what I have been installing from) twice now and no matter what order I install Intel/Nvidia drivers this problem persists. I have tried the following:
no manual driver installs, let Windows do its own thing and Windows Update for all graphics drivers - this results in working, but not up to date versions of both Nvidia and Intel drivers.
manual install of both drivers, after using DDU to completely remove any Intel/Nvidia stuff and having only 'microsoft display driver' in device manager - results in GTX 680M code43 after a system reboot
manual install of one driver, with Windows Update of the other - same as 2nd trial

This issue has been really frustrating and I am wondering if anyone has a solution? The driver CD I have from Sager only has drivers for Windows 7 SP1, so I am using the drivers for Windows 8 from their website. Should I just be installing Windows 8.1 from media with no Sager drivers, then run DDU, then manually install Intel, DDU again, manually install Nvidia?

Have you tried a modified ISO from laptopvideo2go.com?

I have not. I am looking at this site now though. I do not recall how to use the modified INI files though. Is there a quick how-to somewhere?

Just replace the file of the same name once they are unpacked.

This does not seem to have solved the problem. Does anyone have a Windows 8.1 Update install guide for Sager machines? It seems like there is definitely some deeper driver flaw that is keeping me from getting all of the hardware to function properly. Should I have installed the Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8 (note, not 8.1) Intel Chipset driver from Sager?

I cannot find where to get the chipset drivers. I can never find HM77 on Intel's website.

I need to thank you and Prema too because I update my Intel Management Engine Firmware to 8.1.52.1496 version, chipset to the last version, Intel hd 4000 to last version and that improve my windows 8.1 performance in all ways.

The system becomes more responsive and more fast on tasks, to sum the performance in games like bf3 and bf4 up a little and become more stable and all a need now its only that AMD do their work on a new driver !

I think intel hd 4000 update don't make any difference but with chipset and Intel Management Engine Firmware that works so good for me !

Thank you for this link. I am not sure how to navigate their site though. I cannot read the language and there seem to be several 'chipset' sections...

Some people did have issues when upgrading and had to reinstall as a fresh go to get 8.1 working properly.

See that's the thing, I did a fresh install, twice now. I am not sure what to do exactly, should I download all the Windows 8.1 drivers from this site station-drivers.com and then try reinstalling and use those immediatly after Win8.1 install?

    Thank you very much. :)

Dang I do not know what I am doing wrong then. From a fresh install of 8.1 I installed the newest chipset and intel video drivers from driver station as well as Nvidia 335 WHQL driver. I did all this without ever connecting to the internet, jus off of a clean Windows install and I am still getting problems. Do I need to start with Windows 8 clean install and work up from there?

This issue is really frustrating and I'm not sure what to do short of reverting back to Windows 7, which I really don't want to do.

I know that regular Windows 8 (pre 8.1) worked in the past, so I may try that again. I really want to be using the most current OS if it's not Win7 though, since they have really cleaned up with 8.1 update etc
