I just received my laptop today and the beast is awesome....

Just got everything installed and running...

I noticed the Windows Experience Index

Memory operations per second score was: 5.5

I saw that Kozi had at least a 5.7...

This is supposed to be 800mhz memory...

    I think something is wrong....

    Everything else is stellar...

But I really need the memory performance for virtualization...

Mine is 5.9 - something is wrong!

How much memory do you have installed, is it 800MHz indeed, did you balance your memory - two equal sticks?

Seriously, WEI is useless. It is heavily driver and hardware dependent, and some times it appears that the score is partially dependent on the phase of the moon or where the nearest cat is.

Honestly, use the standard benchmark programs (3dMark, PCMark, etc) and compare those. And above all: are you happy with your performance?

    I have 4gb of mem....

Performance is good... Ill wait til tomorrow to really test it out...

Still the memory score in WEI is way too low...

I think I am going to open the box tomorrow to see what memory is my box...

Can anybody give any details to what I should see part wise? maybe a part number?

The speed rating is lited on the sodim sorry I don't remember the specifics to the part number on it. I had to replace one of mine it shipped a day before the driver release to allow the 8700 in sli with 4g ram in vista.

Ok try Sandra SiSoftware use google to grab the link. It will tell you more about your memory and the speed it is running at and give you a comparision back to others.

What version of Vista are you running?

As noted WEI is useless, get SiSandra to compare. The Lite version is free.

lol, I just reran the WEI and this time I received 5.6 for the RAM.

    My system is going downhill!

I cant believe people are actually getting bent out of shape from Microsoft's lame attempt for a system benchmark app.

Just tell us the scores from PCmark05, 3DMark06, SiSandra, HDTune, wPrime.... then you have something my detailed to compared with.

Open the windows XML file and type in some 9.9's if that makes you feel any better.

Or go grab the nearest cat.

I just ran SiSandra Lite -- specifically the memory bandwidth test.

I received 5250 MB/s between the two bandwidth results.

    That seems low to me.

What scores are other folks getting with 800MHz RAM?

    Here's what I got.

    5305
    5288

I wonder if Vista 64 bit throws something off in the tests.

I got 4917, but I have mis-matched memory right now. I would say that it seems closer. I might pull one stick out later and put it back to 800 and see what I get.

Well, let us do some math...

    667MHz * 64bits/clock = 5,336MB/s

So in theory, that is the absolute max you'll get. 5250 is fine.

True but these are spec'd at 800MHz and the question is, is it really running at 800MHz. Actually I think it is, maybe just not the fastest.

steponz, got one more for you to look at grab cpu-z at http://www.cpuid.com the latest version 1.41. Go to the "SPD" tab and check out what you have. It should give you everything from manufacture to steppings. No benchmarks but it will tell you what you have.

I love doing the math... we're at 800MHz so the perfect measurement should yield a theoretical max of 6400 MB/s.

    I'm running at 82% effeciency.

There are other processes running so I'm sure the test is not getting exclusive access to the RAM.

It'd be nice to see a collection of bechmarks from other 9260/1 owners. Make sure to state your memory type (I imagine a few people purchased the 667 MHz RAM a ways back because that was the only 4GB offering for a while).

CPU-Z says my memory is PC2-6400, 800MHz, made by Apacer Technologies. My CAS is 5 when running at the max speed.

Can you post pics of your memory setup...

Makes it a lot easier to compare...

I don't mind comparing with you...

Do you want to create a new thread???

Tell me the program and I will run it also...

I still haven't had the time to really strip down vista..
In the next day or two.. I will really be going through it to maximize the performance for virtualization...

    Is "dual-channel" configurable?

I assume the P965 chipset will automatically use dual-channel mode if it detects two sticks of same size memory.

Anyone know a way to check if the chipset is actually in dual-channel mode?

I thought CPU-Z would show this information on the "Memory" Tab... but for me that tab is mostly blank. It just shows DDR2 and 4096. This may be due to having the KB932596 patch installed... I'm not sure.

Anyone else able to see the info on the memory tab?

The E6850, supports a FSB of 1.300MHz where the Q6600 and Q6700 only get as far as 1.066MHz.

Does this explain why my system (E6850) scores a 5.9 where others have lower scores?

I get the 5.9 on the cpu score. Are you looking at just memory score for the 5.9? Or the overlall?

    Memory score

My quesion is: will the memory score be affected by the type of processor? Argumentation: The Quads only run a FSB speed of 1066MHZ, The E6850 runs a FSB speed of 1333MHz. So Memory speed could (should) be higher on the latter.

The memory bus speed doesn't change with the FSB for the processor, it is independent. It either runs at 667MHz or 800MHz depending on the ram module.

    You can download CPU-Z:
    http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
Run it and go to the memory tab.
The above post is correct. :)

I have checked in CPU-z but I have mis-matched memory in my system right now. It looks like my replacement stick is still 3 weeks out right now. (due to my location) Can anyone else verify this?
