    Hello Guys,
Iam new here and i dont know a lot about Laptops. I want to buy the W170HR what ever this meanst (the manufacturer told me that you will need this). Here is a link to the online shop which sells this Notebook. I choose following config:
    i7-2670QM 2,2GHz
    4 GB DDR3 1333 MHz
17,3 Zoll FullHD LED TFT 1920x1080 Pix NonGlare Type
    NVIDIA® GeForce™ GT 555M
    Blu-Ray Burner
    500 GB Harddrive
    Ultimate-N 6300 Intel for Wlan
So here is the problem: I hate Windows 7 and yes a lot of people have told me already how good it is and what featues i will miss! But 3.25GB RAM are enoght for me and i don't need DX over 9.0c.
My question is now, will Windows XP run on this Notebook and what drivers I need?
Thanks in advance and srry for bad English

Yup it should run without any issues, but have never tried myself. The only issue might arise with the webcam.

So where i get the Windows XP driver, I googled for them, but i just could find drivers for Windows 7. I just want to make sure that it will run before i pay over 1000€ for nothing.

I have heard of quite a few people having problems installing XP with either blue screens during installation or not finding drivers at all. If you can get Windows 7 it's highly recommended. I would suggest downgrading something in your configuration to do this, maybe drop the Blu ray burner. If you cant get your computer running the blu ray burner will be worthless anyway.

Nvidia Optimus won't work at all with XP.

So, you probably can't even the Nvidia card since there is no mux.

Sounds like you haven't used 7 much, its awesome! The only thing I didn't like was how the task bar looked but i just changed it to look like XP. I was reluctant to go from XP to 7 as well but once I used it for a week I upgraded all my PC's to 7.

You should be happy running Windows 7. If you still need to use XP, just upgrade to Windows 7 Professional as it has the capability of running in XP Mode.

XP mode is a virtualized machine of Windows XP and you can still use an XP desktop with it as well as operate older programs that could only function in Windows XP.

Frankly, Windows 7 is an excellent OS. I have upgraded nearly all of my household computers to Windows 7. I say nearly all because some of my machines are running Ubuntu Linux.
