I kinda freaked out a bit, until I was able to locate the Product Key on the bottom of my Sager 8130 and re-input it for validation. I held my breath as the app connected with MS servers to verify the key. The first place I had looked for the key was with the Windows disk that Sager sent along with the laptop. That does NOT have a key. Therefore, I took a picture close up of the key and printed out a couple of copies in case this nonsense crops up again. I'm not sure if the Windows update process today is what created this weirdness or not...

I was able to resolve the issue by typing in the code found on the bottom of the laptop, but thanks.

I had a problem a few years ago with a retail desktop I bought. I had 2 identical machines and they both used the same install disk which did not require a CD key. But Windows decided one of the machines was not a valid machine., Took me a few days to figure out that I had flashed the bios on one of the machines for some reason and it changed the checksum of the bios. You always need ot be careful whenever updating the bios as it can cause problems with Windows.

for some reason it also happens to me on 2x laptops and 1 desktop, it would fail the genuine check and I have to reinsert the product key.

happens randomly (like once per pc every 6 months or so, no bios updates just windows auto update)
