Would you prefer to use the wired connection if possible? My setup is that my wireless router is pretty close to where my laptop is right now so i use a lan cable. My thinking is this will save some wear and tear on the wifi card and less heat on the laptop (wifi card on the left side of the keyboard heats up quite a bit..) I only use wifi when going out of my room (living room, kitchen etc.)

The only reason I would go for wired is for speed. But then again, I don't need speed, as everything I do loads up pretty quickly.

Depends what you're using it for. For gaming I hear wired is always better but I do all my gaming over wifi and never noticed any difference.

If you're paranoid over security then wired is more secure.

Wireless. My desk is already full of wires as it is.

I use wired full-time on my D901C but that is because it is already tethered to the wall.

In my experience, online gaming does not particularly enjoy wi-fi. At home on my router, it works good. But elsewhere, I get mixed results. I suppose it depends on the router being used.

I also use wired for the sheer speed and steady high bandwidth.

You shouldn't have to worry about wear and tear on the WiFi card. They're probably one of the simplest and most reliable things in the laptop.

I'd go wired if you can have it though, as latency and bandwidth are much better on a wired gigabit connection than they ever will be with wireless. Without going into too much detail, wireless is a shared medium (unlike wired when using a switched network), so you share bandwidth with other devices and there is quite a lot of overhead.
