I've been making a number of posts about my Sager NP9262, as I am trying to get the most out of it before I have to come up with the money for a new computer (which is not an option right now). I just maxed out the RAM at 8GB, got a Quadro FX 3700m, I have an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83 ghz, would it be worth it to upgrade my CPU to a Q9650 Extreme or some other CPU that is better then my current? If not what other upgrades might I consider since I plan to use this computer for at least another year / year and a half? A solid state drive might do me some justice but they are so expensive don't know if it's worth it.

As I have a QX9650 in my D901C, I should say not worth it to upgrade from Q9550 to QX9650 at all.
In most case, my QX9650 runs at 3.0GHz, not overclocked. -

You'll get much more of a noticeable increase in performance putting an SSD in there then you will upgrading your CPU. When you do purchase a new computer in a year or so you can also take it out and put it in there giving you better longevity for your investment.

Uhm... why wouldnt it fit into your desktop?
Most SSDs do come in smaller form sizes but thats why you buy them with brackets if you ever intend to use them in a desktop PC.
Heck even without those ive seen people just ducktape them to the case if your too cheap to get a bracket. Some cases also have 2,5" slots. -

Like was said above you just need to use the brackets usually they come with the SSD

When you're looking at SSD just make sure to get the retail version instead of the OEM/Bulk version. Most the time the will include the mounting bracket to put in a desktop, my SSD did. Double check the details "whats in the box" of the drive you order.
Worth upgrading CPU for Sager NP9262?
