Would it be safe to say that the NP5797 remains upgradable for atleast the next 3 years ???

i think for 1 more year it will still max out games, and for anothor it will still be usable. if it stays the way it is.

Less than one year ago I thought my 5793 will be able to max out games for at least one year, well look at the Crysis, COD4/5, Fry cry 2, Rainbox six vegas 2, Grid, etc, non of them I can play max out with 30fps+

Well I am sure you crossfire can max up all those games including the crysis, but 579x can't. just a head up for the OP. and I think 5797 will be upgradable to gt280m at best. 3 years without a new mainboard? no freaking way.

if that is the case then would you say that it would be a better choice to consider one of them 8660 setup ???

because of the cheaper cost ???

Ati is running low on drivers, that`s what`s holding the cards back.
As for "safe" , only the new Clevo M98NU will be safe for around 2 years. (SLI GTX280m baby) :D

The safest way is to buy a desktop, unless a laptop is necessary to you.

    No.

The M98NU uses mxm 3.0 whereas the 579x & 866x use mxm 2.1 version III/IV so the cards will not be compatible. The reason the GTX260/280M's fit both is because there will be 2 versions of them, one with each connector/standard

Well, it depends on what you will be using your computer for. I've had my inspiron E1705 for 2 and 1/2 years now and its still going strong. I play mostly L4D, TF2, UT3 and similar FPS games which are pretty graphically intensive and I have no probs. Fallout 3 and GTA4 work well too, although just barely but definately playable =) And my specs are pretty weak too (see sig.)

If you were talking to me, the FX2500M is equal to the GeForce 7900M GTX. But I have it overclocked to 7950M GTX speeds. It's 2 generations old but still a good card :)

    Duane

EDIT: Oh, if you want to compare it with a DX10 card, it's a little slower than a 8700M GT. And to the OP: sorry for going off topic.
