i was so happy to purchase a laptop from them for the amazing price they offer, but i guess NOTHING in this life comes for free. in this case, the customer service.
    http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Sager

notebookforum.com was also raving about how horrible PCtorque.com's service has been, for example

    http://www.notebookforums.com/thread184425-2.html

my god, now im scared. i guess my only outlet is xoticpc.com and hope i don't get a botched laptop lol. such good prices though.... :(

probably not the best tech/help department in the world....but that is 2 people in the course of over one year.... im sure you have more than that on your own personal record?? *LOL* just being funny.

i wouldn't let that bother you to much. many ways to get to the same end. buy from a reseller and let them do the foot work for you. just make sure you buy the "real warranty" else you'll be left out in the cold in the end....

how many complaints do you think these guys get a day? let alone in one years time? (dell/apple/gateway/lenovo/acer/compaq/hp/fujitsu/toshiba)

i did read the first link which had 2 people voicing their experience with sager. (we are talking about this year alone-2008=365 days)
2 whole people. i think they sold about 20 since i have had mine. not to mention the people that bought from other resellers. sorry, but that's not good enough. it would need to be about 5 to 10 complaints in that long of a period of time. but hey...mine is not to argue why... you feel an asus is the way to go, then by all means...grab one. im sure you'll get your money's worth out of it in the end....
me..i got mine out of it already.. :)

It is never a problem when you are not the one being used and abused. When you are a part of those two customers, as you adequately put it, then you will impale for your cash.

sorry, but i was. but the difference was...i got my problem resolved and fixed.
example: i had a bad 9800m gtx card. it was replaced. at no cost to me.
example: you have a bad experience with visa or master card. how much you want to bet you keep using them
example: bad experience with the phone company. bet you still use them.

all im saying is look at the whole picture and not just your "corner of the world" of it.

we all have a bad experience from time to time... doesn't mean it's allways going to happen with everyone.

guess if your company had a bad review they should just fire all of you and shut the business down then huh? or no one else should buy from you either?

but again...just like i mentioned up above...if you choose to go a different route...that's fine. not saying you shouldn't. just saying...lets not go lenching just yet...

I am happy for you. The incompetents were on holiday when you had your problem.

That is the difference between you and me. When my phone company pulls a fast one on me and refuses to fix it I change them. Period. I pay 24Mbit, I want 24Mbit at all times. Proof that I am the only hooked up to a special line shared with the biggest Audi garage in Luxembourg. I have 24Mbit all the time and all pcs, even when they download at the same time.

You claim to see the whole picture yet you fail to acknowledge something: I've been in both situations, fixed and f-ed. So I know where you are coming from. Do you know where some of us are coming from?

    1. No news after weeks about out laptops.
    2. Constant lies
    3. Demand for more money
    4. Rubbish treatment

I think my money is worth the same as yours. It is sad that you think on the following logic...10 got it fixed, 5 did not, lets forget about the other five. A company needs to be judged according to those ten. I hope you never go thru what I've been thru.

i see we are getting off topic....

    1. No news after weeks about out laptops.
    2. Constant lies
    3. Demand for more money
    4. Rubbish treatment

been there done all of that. that's why i can speak on it. from both sides of the fence.
sure, this has happen to me as well...not sure what your getting at?? last time i checked though. complaining about it didn't get it fixed. but finally catching the right person did.
example: 2 gateway laptops. and tech support saying i couldn't switch them out with out paying a restocking fee. for a dead pixel... that i didn't pay for.

so if your mad about a reseller...then don't buy from them. but at the same time..don't let 2 people sway your judgement.

last time i checked asus was not very high on the list of customer satisfaction, but yet you own one.
and your doing better than me!..if i owned or was paying for a 24mbit line, i sure would not be hosting my photos on flickr!
can i host a few files on your connection?? *LOL*

    on topic:
sager is not the maker so feel free to get one from another reseller. there are quite a few to choose from blue diamond.

If you are in the US go for Asus. If you are in Europe, avoid Asus UK and Asus NL.

The radio version :p. Extended version is the the Asus Thread :p

Well since i've been on the forum i haven't heard a single complaint about sager at all, or any of the people who buy their laptops through them, Xotic PC etc..., the only company i've heard complaints about are those that get laptops from sager then customise them themselves before selling them.

As for the laptop its self, i've got a clevo m860tu (albeit from rock instead but meh same laptop rly) and its solid as a rock, i have 1 stuck pixel that only shows up on dark background but tbh thats 1 pixel out of 1764000, i think i'll live. The built quality is brilliant, the only slight issue is the HDD is on the warm side, only ever gets unformfortably warm on a defrag or virus scan. I didnt have the best experience buying my laptop in the end as it took far too long to arrive, but i'm happy with it now and i got some compensation for my troubles. The laptop was worth the wait.

I believe that the poor resellerrating review for Sager's customer service came from a rash of folks who bought directly and had the misfortune of having problems during a busy time for Sager.

So far as I can tell, customer service is not Sager's forte, which is why there are a number of Sager resellers who, as part of their services, offload a lot of the customer service work from Sager to themselves and, by all reports, acquit themselves very admirably, as indicated by the corresponding resellerratings scores for the Sager resellers.

This is, I believe, one of the reasons why it makes sense to buy from one of the resellers rather than directly from Sager - you get better customer service support.

Basically, its a distributed business model that, in context, makes good sense, inasmuch as it allows each actor to focus on what they do best - Sager puts the systems together, and does the hardcore technical repair/RMA work, and the resellers handle the customers efficiently.
