I'm really really trying to decide here, but from what I see, the larger of the two machines here is a bit more capable in terms of temperature efficiency.
I don't ever use the battery for anything extensive, it's always plugged in, and I've wanted a more potent solution for a while now... not to mention the 7970Ms won't have to worry about Enduro issues because the 2011 socket CPUs don't have an iGPU.
Yet... the one con that's completely in favor of the P370EM is the price.
The X570SE is unreal as far as prices go... >.> So is it worth the cost increase with what I've stated? I'd be upgrading from my current machine and I'd upgrade on the notion that it needs to last at least three years comfortably.
P.S. Malibal is selling the X570SE... hope it stays there. o.o

Optimus/enduro is disabled in the P370EM too, neither are supported in dual graphics machines.

Depends on what you do, if it's just gaming, forget the Desktop CPU model. Not worth the money. Also make sure to get all 3 or 4 RAM slots filled with sticks to achieve maximum bandwith (Quad Channel) on the CPU

what sirana said. compared to the added size of the machine and its crazy power consumption/heat production and especially the pricing, the actual performance gain derived from the desktop cpu is really not worth the trouble if u ask me.
i bet it would probably be even cheaper if u get a p370em model with the lowest priced cpu and look for a nice 3940xm on ebay at bargain levels. that u can just oc the crap out of and ull be a happy camper

The problem with this idea is that the CPU temps are already peaking into the mid 90s with the 3940XM at stock, so it's really hard to justify buying an XM CPU without the ability to overclock it reliably. I'd want to see at least 4GHz on this one without any troubles, but that might not happen with the P370EM. Why did they go with the 17" machine this time instead of the old 18" P180?! I will never get these Clevo guys... >_>
I wanted the X7200 back in the day, over the P180HM, dunno why... >_>
I guess the only reason I can think of for wanting the X570SE is just to show off...I do that pretty regularly with my R2 at the moment.

mid 90s at stock clocks? no way jose, not unless u screw up bad with proper cooling, paste job, heatsink installation AND removing dust! where did u get such info? i bet u could easily shave 10-15C off that with a good paste and the good ol trick of slightly raising the back of the machine
besides, were comparing 55W vs. 150W here in a friggin laptop! and thats at stock clocks. do the math urself

The review I got the temperatures here were from Notebookcheck.net with the CPU being the 3820QM.

Not sure about this laptop. If I get an XM CPU I want to overclock it, not have it pushing the limits at stock settings. There's nothing more disappointing than knowing you wasted $750 on a processor that's literally no faster than the one before it, and can't be faster because your machine doesn't possess the ability to cool it properly. -
imagine a poorly done stock paste job and voila the temps in any review suck

I've heard of 3940xm's in W110ers with lower temps. -
I really would like to know the OC temps on the 40xm, please if someone finds it post it here. Can't decide weather to got with the 3840qm or 3940xm, really want to push it to 4Ghz or even 4.2 but without worrying about the temps. How much would a laptop cooler help? Just curious.

Found that in an m18x it runs "When I ran Prime95 for 6 hour burn-in, the max I had was 87/91/90/88"

You will be able to do that with XTU yes.
X570SE or P370EM?
