I tend to let my x7200 run the whole night.
This morning however when i woke up, the laptop was off.
I turned it on, and after a few seconds after the boot it started "singing" this beeping sound.
At first i thought it had something to do with the battery, and i started the laptop without it. The same. I reseted bios setting, and noticed it makes this sound even in bios.
Also, in bios the low battery alarm is turned off.
The sound seems to originate from the bios.
Checked the temps in windows and they seem normal.
However, if i stay to much in windows with the sound on, the laptop shuts down.
My wife told me he had encountered this situation before, while i was at work, closed the laptop for like 10 minutes, then turned it on again, and no more problems.
However, it is my first time i encountered this problem.

Now this beeping sound problem.
Here is the link to see how this sound manifests>

Whats the deal ppl ? Did i choose badly having bought the x7200 ?

If you boot into the BIOS or would have left it at the Windows Boot option (F8 upon boot), does the beeping start? Or does the beeping only start after Windows starts?
-
I know what that beep means.
Your CPU fan is not plugged in or damaged or disconnected.
Open her up underneath (big main panel).
See the fan that is on top of the very very large heatsink, it is a cable down to the motherboard. Disconnect and reconnect it and try again. Also make sure its spinning by turning your computer on with your case off.
The sound you are hearing is a warning sound that the fan is not connected. While you are there, check your other fans (ie for GPU) to make sure they are all in.
Cheers,
Jack. -
yah, i thought as much !
Thats why i took the back cover off, and booted it so, and cheked if all the fans were spining. I thought it was one of the gpu fans.
But all the four fans were spinning. And i never cheked the connection for the cpus fans, but since they spinned also, i thought everything was allright.
After i did this, i normally started it, and afterwards no more beeping sound.
The beeping sound was also in bios and in windows. It didnt matter were i was.
Thanks for the info though. -
Glad you figured it out. Weird that the machine would POST and then boot into Windows w/ a semi-disconnected CPU.

Baka has had this problem before. To recreate it, just max out the fan speed with Fn+1 and it'll start beeping momentarily if any of the fans are disconnected or not working properly ._.

Thanks for all the info guys.
