So I was playing some Diablo 3 at work. Shut down the notebook via start menu. Unplug the notebook. Walk to my barracks, and plug it in bout an hour later and no boot. :(

When I plug in the PSU the indicator light showing the battery is full and that the computer is plugged in are not. The lights are working but the power button does nothing. I remove the CMOS and battery and did a power drain. No go. Removed the Ram and tried one by one, no go. Tonight Iay tray and get to the power button. There shouldn't be n issue with it though. This is odd.

The most frustrating part of it is I'm deployed so ordering parts takes forever. Few weeks.

I was planning on getting the successor to the Cleve 0570WM/ Sager NP9570 (Which is the X7200 successor) when I get home.

Crappy thing is if I wanted to part out my X7200, I have no idea what's causing it to not boot.

Tonight I'll try to tear it down and test more.

Any suggestions on what to check?

I have two power bricks. One I jeep at home and one at work. Maybe the one I have in my room died over night. But the light on it is one and juice is getting to the most. But then the system would still power on on battery. just thinking aloud

    It's a sad day. :(

If only an hour passed between unplugging it and the switching it on again, there should be lots of battery power left for the laptop to load up without an AC adapter, so it does sound like your power brick is not the problem. Even if your DC jack has become loose, the battery should still power on too.

Any way safe way to test if the motherboard is getting power? E.g. a screwdriver like tester which lights up?

When you hit the power button, is there any start up noise in the unit? Like a fan spin? It might be very faint.

No noise at all. However the lights on the front of the computer turn on when the plug is inserted into the back. The lights that indicate the system is plugged in, and the battery is charging, or charged.

Man this system is a PITA to take apart just to get to the power button.

Welp, took it apart, resat and cleaned everything, still the same old story :( Sitting on a very expensive paper wieght right now. :(

If the system poweres without the GPU in then the GPU is dead, if the system powers with the CPU removed then the power circuitry is fried and the mobo is dead.

Wait, so with a dead mobo, the system would still power on with the CPU removed?

I havn't tried to remove the GPUs or CPU yet. I may try that in the next few hours. I just figured with a dead mobo, it wouldn't power at all. Just odd that I have lights. And see no apparent reason it would fry the mobo. Especially since it was working right when I shut it down.

I'm not sure if I want to pursue this, since I'm deployed overseas. I don't have the resources or tools to troubleshoot it throughly from here. I'm half tempted to just get a NP9570 I really wanted to wait until the NP9570 successor came out. I might just send the X7200 home, and eventually replace the mobo.

Any idea when the Next gen NP9570 will come out?

A short in the CPU power circuitry can be bypassed if no CPU is present, it's not a catch all but it's a certain sign if you see it.

Sorry to hear about your problems! :(

Try to change the graphic cards, or just try one at a time and then the other at the master card slot.
Could be the problem. I had this with a faulty GTX 485m back then, too...
Could be a faulty CPU as well.
As my first i7 970 died, the laptop didn´t boot, too, like yours... so maybe there is a chance to get it back to life! :)

Thanks. I'll definitely give that a shot tonight when I get back on shift. A new 485M would be a whole lot cheaper then a new system. Hopefully that's the issue. Did yours still show the indicator lights as on on the front of the system?

Tried all the suggestions, pulling the CPU, swapping GPUs... Nothing seems to work. Not sure if I should go out on a limb and buy a new motherboard, or just call it DOA, part it out and get a new system. Sad and expensive day for this guy.

Unfortunately nothing happens. Lights on the front come on, but no response from the system at all. :( Im thinking if I order a new P570WM/NP9570, then I can test out the GPUs. Probably sell the GPUs, and CPU to recoup a little cash. If I order a new system it will be with no HDDs, OS, or RAM. I can just swap that stuff from my X7200 in. Try and save a little bit of money.

Well, at this point it´s either the Mobo or the CPU. :(
You don´t have access to another i7 from the first desktop gen to test?

Sadly no, I'm also hoping that it is an issue with the power button board. Hopefully it's not the CPU, I'm hoping to be able to sell it to recoup some cash.

Hard to tell - as my 970 died, I pulled it off, too, and there was no difference to tell from indicators with defective CPU or no CPU. At this point I really thought it was the mobo, but I couldn´t resist and bought an i7 950 to test, and it just worked... so then I bought me another 970 and sold the 950.

Is the motherboard dusty? I had some problems booting my T61 until I gently brushed the dust off parts of my motherboard with some tissue. An air canister would probably be a better idea (static charges are not good for electronics).

If you're interested in my experience:

-The screen would light up and there would be no BIOS.

-The T61 kept rebooting with no change.

-I re-adjusted positions of memory and other parts.

    -I pulled out CMOS battery.

-I pulled out 9 cell battery.

    -I disconnected the power adapter.

None yet. I'm debating getting a P570WM to replace it. That or build a desktop. Problem is if I build a desktop, I can't carry it to work to game, but I cold build a lot more powerful system. I am currently trying to find a mother board for the X7200 to reduce costs. That way I have mobility, and a sweet desktop.

If I get a P570WM, I want to wait until the i7 4930K is released.

So many options. Just hard to find a mother board for the X7200.

Personally if you can afford it, the 570WM with an IVY-E will be a proper generational improvement.

I agree, is there any date on when they will sip with ivy? From what I've seen over at overstock.net Ivy will be out next month. Think it'll make it into the system at that time? I'm thinking I'll be ordering with an i7 4930K since there isn't much difference between that and the extreme from what I gather.

If I could find a mobo for the X7200 I'd be tempted to try and swap that in to fix my issue and build an Ivy desktop when I return home.

Well looks like I'll have a new mother board on the way soon. Waiting for upgradeyourlaptop to send me an invoice.

If that doesn't solve my problem I won't be too pleased. Going to cost $345+S/H.
I figured it's better than building my desktop here and having to ship it home. Then I'll still have a powerful mobile platform. Buying a P570WM would have been expensive and wouldn't allow me to build a desktop to my specs. Fingers crossed the motherboard works. :)

Yea :( no more yet, still waiting. Whatcha get when ordering from Eurocom. They shipped a week or so after they said they would. But I had no choice. So I'll hopefully get it in the next few days. Then comes the huge headache of the swap. If it was an M17x R2 I'd have it done quick but I've never torn down the X7200 as much as I will have too. It'll be slow going but hopefully it'll fix my issues.

Well did the mobo swap. Good news is the motherboard got the system to power on. Bad news is its not getting into windows. Here was the swap in progress, and my current BSOD code.

    Stop 0x0000007e.

I'm wondering if it has to do with the fact that my last mobo was a Clevo X7200 mobo, and this one is a Eurocom board with the Panther 3 bios. My old board didn't have HDMI in, but this new one does. The new board had a date of 9/2013 on it I believe. Though could have been 2012. Are there any capability differences between the old board I had and this new Panther 3 board?

EDIT: It just hit me. Possibly need new chipset drivers... Any idea if I can reinstall those from DOS? I'm also having issues getting into safe mode. I got the mobo in so I'm calling it a night. I'll probably also have to track down a Windows 7 install disk or create a bootable Windows usb drive. I didn't bring mine with me when in deployed. Also don't want to have to reinstall all the software, though that's an easy fix. Just time consuming and I don't have my Microsoft Office key :p All others I should have on my data drive.

Did you try look into the BIOS? Maybe there is something wrong with the controller or something other.

I don´t know if it could be the chipset driver, because I had my mobo swapped at the beginning of my X7200 ownership - it was swapped from Eurocom mobo to Clevo mobo (which is physically the same, but with modified BIOS from Eurocom), and after booting, everything worked, the drivers were installed automatically again, and i had to activate Windows after that.

Hmm, I checked the bios, and didn't see anything that I thought would cause the issue. My old X7200 board had the unlocked bios that allowed for overclocking, where as this one doesn't. It seems to have a Panther 3 bios. I was tired when I already got the mobo swap done. So I'll have another look when I get off shift.

I do know that this seems to be an updated motherboard. From reading, the Eurocom Panther 3.0 was able to take the 580M, and 1600mhz RAM, where I think my old 1st gen mobo the highest offered was the 485M, and 1333Mhz RAM. So there are some differances. This one has HDMI IN, my old one didn't. I think the new mobo also had an express card slot, though the body of my system doesn't. Is there somewhere that has a bios I can try and update to? Would the X7200 bios work on the Eurocom board? Id' like to have the unlocked bios so I can once again OC the i7 980x.

So long as its dated after the release of that revision and applies to the entire x7200 series then yes.

Well I think it's time for me to give up on this system. I can't boot into Windows. Can't boot into Startup Repair, Can't boot into Safe Mode, Tried removing each GPU, Tried Removing each RAM DIMM, tried RAM in different slots, Tried removing each HDD, Tried booting from Win 7 disk, tried booting from a Ubuntu Linux disk, Tried changing from AHCI to RAID and vice versa, tried reseating and repasting the GPU. Nada. All I can think of is another motherboard issue with a brand new motherboard.

Did you try starting from a live Disk, or from a setup disk?
See, when my first i7 970 was defective I couldn´t boot into windows again, too, not safe mode, or anything else. Even a setup disk for windows didn´t do it.
It turned out it was a combination of a defective RAM slot and the CPU.

On the other hand, do you have another harddrive? Just try install a new windows and you´ll see if it´s something that has to to with hardware or if it works if your current windows version is corrupt.

I have the he HDMI-in in my X7200, too. Clevo did offer it, but most resellers got the version without HDMI-in, only Eurocom (and maybe some others) took the HDMI-in version and sold it.
Flash your BIOS, it should work! I have the latest unlocked BIOS from SAGER, too.

It was a live disk. Tried booting it and didn't get anything. It just hangs on a blank screen or BSOD. Trying to install a new windows, I get the same thing. Just seems like it's Hardware, which I refuse to believe it's the motherboard. I have 4 hard drives, and images of all of them so in wanted to use Ubuntu to wipe the drives.

It's driving me crazy. I'll test more tomorrow if in can think of anything else to try.

Also, where can I find a copy of the bios?

There has to be something I'm missing here :x
