Help, I opened up my Clevo x8100 to check out where the ram is stored, one space is under the keyboard, another is next to the cpu. I recently got some BSOD's en tried to switch the one latch that is in my laptop from under the keyboard to the empty space next to the CPU. I tried to start it up and nothing happens, absolutely nothing when I press the power button, still the light from the socket and battery are orange.

Then I switched the latch again to its original place so that the laptop is in it's original state like it always has worked and still nothing when I press the power button !! What could I be overlooking ? Mind you, all is done following the exact steps in the service manual.

    Please reply quickly :D

Update: I also see when I press the power button that the 'socket led' blinks for a second to green like it's going to start up but then changes back to orange. From what I understand from this is that something is preventing it from starting up. Could it be that I have to let the battery recharge for a bit ? I triple-checked everything I've done inside the laptop and everything is connected as it should be, please help, getting a little panicky here...

What "latch" did you switch exactly? Do you mean you moved the stick of RAM between slots?

Do you get any error beep codes when it tries to boot up?

If you're worried about the battery, remove the battery ad plug the laptop in directly and try to boot it. If it still doesn't boot it sounds like you either knocked something loose or have a dead RAM module (assuming that's what you mean by "switch the one latch")

After a long day of testing, trying, cursing :D I've isolated the problem.
I had a bad contact on the touch panel cable, the small strip with the HDD led and so on. Disconnecting and reconnecting the cable solved the problem. Maybe something to keep in mind when somebody has a similar problem.

Go figure, the laptop started with the strip completely disconnected but failed to start with the cable halfway in, am I making myself understandable ? (As English is not my mothertongue) :D
