I'm currently running Catalyst 10.8, which is currently the latest mobility driver available on my Sager 8120 with dual ATI 5870's. I'm wondering, since these cards are really underclocked desktop gpu's, is it safe to install the 10.9 Catalyst drivers, which are the most current desktop GPU drivers??

Also, is it necessary/encouraged to install the CrossfireX application profiles on this notebook? I went ahead and found an archived 10.8 ATI Catalyst Application Profile and installed it (10.9a is the latest one listed, but I assume that is for desktop cards).

Currently, LOTRO, Crysis Warhead, Mass Effect, and COD:MW2 run well. Far Cry 2 crashes immediately and will not let me play (closes immediately after in game graphics are loaded and lands me at desktop. Disabling Crossfire allows me to play Far Cry 2.

My main concern is that I'm running the optimal driver(s) and software for the Mobility 5870's in CrossfireX. Please Advise!

    Thanks, DCook42

10.10, which should come in a mobility variant according to T.Makedon, are out soon, so may as well wait for those. Also those profile updates are universal for any card on current ATI drivers, so use the 10.9a ones.

You can get modified drivers so the 10.9s will install on your mobility cards as well, but hey, as I say 10.10 are round the corner.

    Edit:
Hi mate, if you're not already on it, if you see any screen shuddering etc make sure you've got the latest bios from Sager as well (.11oc.ls3). It seems to be a step in the right direction for those of us with display issues.
