When i get my laptop, i want to have INSIDE it a tv-tunner.
    Now Questions:
1)What slot is the optional tv tunner used on ?
2)If i get the laptop without tv tunner, can i later buy the tunner, install it manualy, and still be able to use the CATV external jack ? Or if i get the laptop without the tunner in the first place, there is gonna be no catv jack ?
3)Does the x7200 have this kind of tv tunner option ?
4)I need a NTSC/PAL/SECAM not a ATSC tunner, since i live in europe (romania, germany), is there such a thing that i can get inside the laptop ?

If the Tunner is Min PCIe, that means the tunner is upgradeble, meaning i can fit inside that slot whatever tunner fits my needs.
The question is then, how do i connect the CATV jack on the outside of the laptop to the tunner in that slot.

And speaking of Mini PCIe, how many such slots are there in the laptops ?

    2, 3 ?
What else can we fit inside them.
I know the wireles intel 6300 takes one such slot, is that correct ?

I wa thinking, in the x7200, if it has 3 Mini PCIe, one for the tunner, one for the intel 6300 and one for the HDMI in (does this option need a Mini PCIe slot, is this a card ?)

Also, i noticed on cizmo site, the d900f, the x8100 and the CX1730i (the 17 incher with the 480m) have the option to buy integrated tv tunner.

Is there someone on these forums that bought one of these laptops from cizmo with this tv tunner ?
I'd like to know more details.

Also Kobalt, doesn't show anything about an integrated tv tunner. But they do show in the images in the gallery that the said laptops have the CATV jack.
Maybe they do have the tunner onboard, only they don't say nothing about it.
In the gallery of the G875 for instance, it can be clearly observed on the front side, the RED IRDA port for the remote.
That means everything is BUILT in, which is exactly what i want.
On the D900f there is an option of selecting a tv tunner. It doesn't say weather it's ATSC or NTSC/PAL/SECAM.

Because if i get later on a tunner myself, i will have to connect the the CATV jack to the tunner, and somehow the irda port, or don't I ?

The tv tunner for me is a must have, as it also turns the laptop into a portable TV.
Even though i scarcely watch TV.

Click for a bigger image :)

As you can see, the D900F has 3 mPCI-E slots, first one is a PCI-E/USB combo, other two are USB interfaces for sure, can't say with certainly that the PCI-E lanes on those are also connected since I haven't tested that.
(Wireless LAN uses the PCI Express connection, while the TV card and most other devices require a USB interface).

A, so these slots are beneath the keyboard, that's why i haven't seen them anywhere in any reviews. Many thanks for the "screenshot", i haven't seen the d900f from beneath the keyboard before.

We are talking about the 3 "white bars" in the upper left corner, right, those are the slots ? right ?

Tell me, is something like this gonna work in one of those slots ?
    Mini PCI-Express OCZ Technology
Bassicaly it's a SSD made with the MINI PCIe interface, with either sata or pata connectors.
I don't know how this SATA or PATA gonna work since both of them are on the same MINI PCI Express connection.

It seems to me the Mini PCI e slots are occupied with something.
    With what ?
Do you have a tv tunner installed ?
If so, is there a cable connecting the tv tunner to the catv jack on the outside of the laptop ?

    PS:
1)They sure seem small compared to the rest of the laptop.
2)The keyboard seems very easy to take apart, i'm sure clevo is behind this marvelous modularity.

Those mini pcie ssds are for netbooks. I've read user reviews from newegg.com that those won't fit in regular notebook's mpcie slot.

I think Dell is using mpcie ssds in their precision workstation, maybe if you can find those on ebay or get one from dell they will fit.

Why don't they fit ? Isn't the format standard ?

One thing you'll notice about notebooks is no format is ever quite standard :D

    Correct

They won't work in these kind of notebooks.
There needs to be a SATA or PATA interface connected to the mPCI-E interface. As F4ding already mentioned, those can be found in certain netbooks.

    Indeed, from left to right:
    - Intel WiFi Link 5300
    - TV Card, took it out of some other laptop, delivers DBV-C/T.
This card is (as you already had guessed) connected to the CATV jack through a cable.
    - SDHC interface (acts as my bootmanager and includes images like Win7 install, Memtest, BootPE, BIOS flashing and some other nice tools :) )

What kind of tv card do you have ?
Are you from Europe or from America ?
I think tv is in different formats in the 2 continents.

When you got the laptop, did it have the tv tunner or did you bought it aftewards ?
If you get the d900f without the tv tunner initialy, does it still have the external catv jack ?

How did you connect the tv tunner to the catv jack ? I can't imagine how ?

Europe and running some type of Yuan card, got it from a friend who didn't need it in his lappy.

I got the laptop as a barebone, so it came without TV Tuner. The CATV connection is always there (part of the barebone).

The CATV jack delivers a cable similar to the WLAN cables, just plug it in and you're set :)

Nowadays I am using a seperate USB device though since I needed to use a decoder to watch the commercial DVB-T channels and it wouldn't work in coop with the Yuan card. (only got 3 crappy public channels in the Netherlands  )

Once I can get my hands on a X7200 I'm probably leaving the mPCI-E TV card behind, I'm really satisfied with my USB solution (Hauppage 930).

Yah, i know of the haupage 930, but it's external, i want something to put inside. No point in not making use of the catv jack if it is there.

I'm with you there brother. If you happen to find something that works great, please let me/us know. I'm going to use the express slot, but would prefer to use internal card for the notebook in order to use the CATV jack on the notebook.

Avermedia A312 Mini PCI express tv tunner.
    It's ATSC and NTSC.
I know ATSC is for americas, and maybe NTSC is for Europe. However i don't know if i neet PAL\SECAM standard, or if it this particular model supports PAL\SECAM

Avermedia A312 Mini Pci-E TV FM NTSC Atsc Tuner Card products, buy Avermedia A312 Mini Pci-E TV FM NTSC Atsc Tuner Card products from alibaba.com

Avermedia site lists a couple of models of tv tunner, but it doesn't list their particular model number.

This particula Model seems interesting as it has NTSC PAL SECAM ATSC and DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcast Terestrial)

    http://www.avermedia.com/avertv/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?Id=480&SI=true

But i'm afraid it's just a pretty picture.

    Also i found this:
    http://www.activemedia.com.tw/productInfo.asp?PID=466
It says it has worldwide tv support, and it lists NTSC PAL SECAM

There is a driver cd provided for the x7200 tv tunner. I installed it, and the card has the driver installed.

But there is no software that uses to tunner to display tv posts.

And i do not know hwat i can further do to se tvv posts.

    Any help is apreciated.

Maybe i have to use some kind of 3rd party software that uses the card and displays posts.

Works with Arcsoft Total Media 3.5 as advertised. Neat program, i'll give yah that.
Bad news is i need to buy it, and its 80 more dollars.

Damn, and you thought buying the tunner would give you some soft of software that you can actualy use the tunner with.

    Good news:
It seems i acctualy have a remote i can use to change chanells.
The logitech Z cinema remote control.

The number buttons on the remote work to change chanells, and the chanell + and chanell - work to cycle through chanells.
    Its so kewl.
