Has anyone else with the X9100 noticed in CPU-Z that the core speed is sometimes ½ of what it should be? Is it being changed by the BIOS or by Vista? I have changed the power profile to Performance but it didn't help.
The funny thing is if I watch CPU-Z, it will change between ½ and 100%
and back again...in random intervals

the core speed changes dynamically in order to save power, there should 6 or 8 stages of it, this technology has been existed since P-4M era.

Yup, EIST kicks in. You can fix a certain multiplier using RMClock, if you want to.
-
Thanks for the replies...I can honestly say, I've not seen it "downclock" to this extent in any notebook since the P4.
I will try RMClock to lock in the multiplier. -

As for RightMark CPU Clock lock, it won't work with Vista 64. -
screen saver settings > change power settings > high performance -
Mine keeps fluctuating between 6 and 13 for the multiplier.
Very disconcerting. -
Why is that? it`s saving power and outputs less heat.
I have mine locked at 6x on battery to get the most out of it, and SuperLFM on so that at idle, it`s at 600 Mhz. -
I will try SETFSB to lock it at 13.
To hell with the battery and I keep the AC at 70 in the house...I'm not worried about heat, but I am looking for 4 notebook coolers...one for each.
Which are best? The Antec seems nice, it has vent hols the furthest into the corners. -
the antec won't fit, i had it.

Crap.
How the hell do you use SetFSB!?!?!?
Holy cräp it looks like you need an MIT degree to understand! -
setFSB doesn't recognize the new platform yet, so no bother.
-
dbl crap.
Just shoot my cat while your at it.
