I just found this on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/AW80576ZH0836...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1216496998&sr=8-1

    $533 shipped.

At that price one could get the P8400 in their 5796 or (I'm not suggesting this) in their 8660 (void the warranty and potentially fry their machine). Then sell the P9500 on ebay for a some cash and end up with a $300 or $400 upgrade to an X9100.

And Amazon is the actual seller so it isn't some questionable third party.

    Looks pretty sweet.

Well it looks like I just bought this. I don't know that I should have, and I'm certain my wife will kill me when she finds out. I bought it none the less.

I know it would probably void my warranty to put it in the NP8660, so I may just end up re-selling it and trying to make a couple bucks.

Either way I'll probably drop it in and see what kind of temps I get before making a decision.

It just seemed like way to good a deal to pass up. At this price if it works I could completely cover the cost by selling my T9600 on Ebay for the same price.

You do realize the bios will be locked and you wont get it running faster than 3.0ghz right?

    Yes. Unfortuneately I do.

I'm not quite sure what I'll do with it yet. I won't be charged until it ships, so I'll probably weigh things out a little more and decide to either cancel it or hold on for the slight edge.

If I can get reasonable temps out of it, even without the overclock, I feel it is worth a possible $100 loss (if I can only manage to get $435 out of the T9600, though they are on ebay now for $584).

No. It isn't officially supported and would likely void the warranty. I've been watching it for awhile however and trying to decide if it is worth it, and I just decided to jump before pricing is changed (assuming it will be).

My last laptop was way past supported specs and it ran like a dream (other than the integrated graphics). That was a Dell e1505 at that, so hopefully the M860TU could handle it. I'll probably try it and if it's to hot I'll pull it and resell it.

Its the same same socket as a t9600, it will boot up fine, whether it works stable using a higher voltage and causing more heat is where it might fail.

Why are you going to pay +500 dollars for .2 ghz?
the T9600 is 2.8Ghz and you can probally overclock it using FSB significantly anyway.
Besides .2Ghz you arent going to notice any difference.
