    Hello, I'm going to replace my Thermal Pads with my XMG U507 laptop (Clevo P751DM2-G) but I don't know what to use. This paste is applied with thermall Gryzzli liqud but these current thermal pads look like one big thick chewing gum. So what should they use and where?

    I7 6700K and GTX 1070

    When paired with liquid metal you might actually need thinner thermal pads than stock for proper contact, especially on the GPU.

    Perhaps @XMG can shed some light on what thickness the stock pads are.

    Which Thermal Grizzly product you're using.

    Gelid GP extreme is very good thermal pad. All you need is 2x 1.5mm & 3x 1mm pads. Stack them when you need thicker pads.

    On cpu side you need you need 4mm and 2mm pads (stack 1mm/1.5mm pads to get the correct height)

    On GPU side most of them are 1mm(ram) others are 1.5mm. You'll also need small piece of 3-3.5mm.

    Never stack thermal pads.
    You lose up to 50% of the thermal conductivity.

    Depends on the pad, that will be less for the squishy ones and contact and positioning is way more important.

    If you need 2.5mm a 1.5mm and 1mm is way better than a 2mm or 3mm pad.

    So if you stack a bunch of them, thermalpads become an actual heat insulator instead?
