I pre-ordered by NP8690 from XOTICPC.COM and received it no problem. I've been using it as a desktop replacement and have actually gone to a couple of LANs with it. I ordered by laptop with the i7-820QM, paid for the better thermal paste, and am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit fully updated. My Internet Security suite is G-Data 2010, purchased and updated. When at home, I use the HDMI connection into an LCD monitor.

ISSUES RESOLVED: When I first received my laptop, I noticed that the 7200RPM 500 GB hard drive made a lot of noise, found a firmware update for my drive, and resolved the noise issue. ***Please note*** I contacted XOTICPC about this, they offered to do an advanced RMA replacment, even though I was seeing SMART test pass well, top notch Jason!

FIRST OUTSTANDING ISSUE: I cannot run LINPAK for more than approximately 5-seconds under OCCT before getting kicked out for high-heat; I have not modified any of the thresholds, should I? Is this anything to worry about? I do not have the black plastic covering the vent...

SECOND OUTSTANDING ISSUE: When I'm at home, and not getting scanned constantly by people on a shared network, I have no problems running games or surfing/downloading from the Web. When I'm at a LAN, I am constantly being scanned and have intermittent BSODs indicating problems with TCPIP.SYS. I have seen some posts about this indicating a problem with the security suite from CA (Computer Associates), but nothing related to G-DATA. Could this be an issue from using the Laptop screen as opposed to a separate LCD monitor and generating heat? Could this be because of G-DATA and being "scanned' by other computers at the LAN? Again, I do not have this issue at home, connect at 1000M at both home and the LAN.

Thanks for any suggestions / help. I did not see anything about the details of the BSODs within the Poll thread at the top of this forum, I did see some info regarding heat, but did not see my "issue" specifically mentioned -- a question of whether-or-not I should be concerned.

    Regards,

    Geoff

Hi Geoff, I think I am having this exact issue, do you have a link to the update? Thanks for any help you could offer. :)
