I have decided that the NP2090 is the laptop for me after much looking and reading on these forums. This is a great place for info, especially for a laptop new guy like myslef.

But I read something that confused me. Someone ordered and did a review of the laptop from XoticPC and it seeemed that the Operating System was not installed. The Customoer had to do it from home.

I am not great with software and have had my own problems while trying to install them in the past.

If I order one from xoticpc or powernotebooks with the operating system option for XP Pro, does it come installed already or do I need to do that myself? Just wondering if this is standard or if I read something wrong.

    Thanks in adavance.

As far as I know it will come installed. Windows XP came installed on my Sager 5750 when I ordered it from Sager.
So if they still offer Windows XP as an option and you select that option, then yes it will be installed (with all the drivers you need). The only thing is that you might want to update some of the drivers.

The person who reviewed the notebook must have asked for no OS. If you buy an OS with your machine it will come installed.

I ordered a Sager NP2090 from www.xoticpc.com and selected Vista Home Premium as my Operating System. It came installed with the 64 bit version of Vista Home Premium already taken care of. I also had the discs for both the 64 and 32 bit versions if I wanted to switch. There is an option when ordering for "No Operating System." Just be sure not to select this option and your selection will be pre-installed for you. This couldn't have been any closer of an example, since your post referenced that you are purchasing the same PC and the same resellers I was looking at.

If you really want to confirm feel free to e-mail or call the reseller you choose and ask to be sure. The person writing the review likely chose to save money by not ordering a new OS since he already had a valid copy of one to install on it.

you have the option of not having an OS preintalled (for those who want to either install it themselves to save money, or install other types of OS not offered like Linux or Ubuntu) but you definately can have one preinstalled, for a bit more money ofcourse.
