Okay, So I once again decided to try out vista a year after my awfull experience with attempting to game on my 5720 with vista installed. I've seen plenty of posts boating about how vista has really matured and how gaming on vista has come a long way and is only right behind XP as of now performance wise.

So i reformatted my computer last night, spent somewhere along the lines of 6 hours installing windows updates, drivers, SP1, antivirus software (the essentials of course) and finally one of the newer GPU drivers for my 7800gtx from laptopvideo2go.com (i believe it was the 32bit 174.82 | clevo drivers, it had fairly decent reviews).

I then installed Eve online with thier Premium graphics content to test out the performance. At first it looked like it was gonna be issue free, the graphics looked great and it was really smooth, but within 2 minutes of starting up the game I got a dramatic slowdown due to overheating. RivaTuner was showing temperatures of 85 - 90 degrees Celsius.

Ive also tried a few other drivers from ltv2g with no avail.

Now I know for a fact this isnt occuring because of dust buildup in the computer, I normally open it up and blow it out. Plus, the same game with the same graphics in XP run completely normal. In fact i ran Eve for an hour right before i reformatted with no problems.

I guess my question would be what may I be missing? Is there a better driver out there for vista that doesnt make the GPU run so hot that I dont know about? What are your tips and tricks? It seems I must be missing something if many others are running games on vista now with very few issues.

Dude, thats pretty messed up stuff, do you have the latest Sager firmware BIOS because it updates the fan control... just going out on a limb here, the latest it 1.00.08 and you can get it from zfactor with a custom boot screen as well:
