Hey guys,
My XR5 won't power on after the battery completely discharged.
The charger/power brick's LED is green and the LED on the LCD is showing amber for both power plugged in and battery charging. Whilst my battery had charge the machine was operational but now that the battery has completely discharged the machine is refusing to power up all together (does power on until the residual charge on the battery is reduced and then just shuts down). It doesn't seem to be charging the battery either as the machine won't power on off the battery at all now.
I have tried to let the battery charge for a few hours and then power on but that is a no go. I have also tried to remove the battery and power on but the amber indicator lights just flicker and the machine fails to power on.
What do you guys think the problem could be? I hope its just a messed up power brick...
Thanks
/Saad
Update: The indicators on the screen are no longer glowing amber when the power is plugged in, all I did was remove the battery and replace it back in its slot.

Thats strange... so there no more indicators at all anymore??
Hopefully your motherboard was not shorted. -
Hi Gophn
Yup no lights on at all. Tried to remove and reinsert battery again but that didn't help, I thought it may not have been seated correctly.
Thanks

contact PCMW immediately.
I think you may need to send it in. -
Thanks Gophn, will do, seems like I am going to be getting the complete PCMW experience. The machine itself is no more than 45days old, had this happened within the 30day period I would have returned for a full refund. The D901C itself is amazing, its just shocking to see how many people have had RMA problems with Clevo systems - or perhaps its just those who seem to have problems that are more vocal about it.

I have a feeling that the issue may lie in your specifications.
The Intel Xeon Quad CPUs are NOT fully supported by the notebook or Clevo. Though they may fit and work, does not mean they are fully stable.
I know, my Opteron 180 is not fully supported in my notebook even though it fits an works. I had to use some workarounds (RMclock configs) to make it stable.
These notebooks should really only use CPUs that the ODM designed to use for them.
If you do return it for RMA, I would see if you get just get a Q9450 or Q9550 in it instead of the Xeon. -

I had smthing similar and opened up the HDD vent and when i tried again it booted well.Mozilla was the bad guy here I think.

Sorry for the late reply, been traveling for work.
I'll let you guys know if the Xeon was the culprit, sending it back in tomorrow morning via fedex/ups air.

Had you installed any softwares like mozilla?
-
Mozilla is the base for a few browsers, I had Safari and Firefox installed. This shouldn't be affecting the power, which the motherboard doesn't seem to be getting. It could affect the OS boot but should not physically stop power from flowing into the mobo.

I had the problem that you described after installing Mozilla.I removed all the covers, reseated HDD and it booted up fine.

Sorry, should have updated this earlier:
PCMW says the Motherboard is fried, in for repairs. Its been with them for a week now, they've promised to ship either today or tomorrow.
I hope no one has this problem, but in the event they do its in all likelihood a fried mobo. PCMW says (put as much weight in that as you would) its not related to the Xeon processor because they have 200 machines out with the same processor and no problems.
