I've been meaning to buy the np9262 after the supposed quad core price drop on August 10th, however their website has been down for two days now. I would like to know if it is just me not being able to connect, or is their website truely down. And if it is down, is it for updates?

    Thanks for the help :D

XoticPC works just fine for me, and has worked just fine all this week.

Try clearing your browser's cache, or talk to your ISP.

It's not down. I have the same problem getting on there. Try going through a proxy server:

    www.youhide.com

First I thought that Xotic's website was down, but after checking on here and PM'ing Justin, I found out that they were not. I then thought that it was due to my ISP, so I contacted Comcast cable. They swore that they do not filter or block out any website. Then I thought it's due to my firewall, anti-virus and anti-spywares because of the "xotic" name, so I disabled them all but to no avail. So I perform a clean uninstall and deleted all the files. Still nothing. Firefox 3.0 gives me an error message that "the server at www.xoticpc.com is taking too long to respond." IE7 gives me a similar error message. I still can't get on to xoticpc.com without going through a proxy server. Even the proxy server, however, is slow.

BTW, dumpling, where do you live? And who's your ISP?

Yup, I cleared my cache, turned off anti virus and fire walls and didn't work either. My ISP is Comcast and I live in Massachusetts. Whats odd is that the computer I am on now cannot connect to xotic pc however, my mother computer which is also connected to the same router is able to connect to the website. However I was not able to check xotic pc with my other computer right now because it is not with me. I will try your proxy a :D nonymizer. Thanks

So the similarity is Comcast. Hmm, veddy interwesting. But my brother, who also has Comcast cable and lives a few blocks away, can get on XoticPC.com without any trouble. This is too daggum puzzling. I was able to get on xotic's website fine up until about 2 weeks ago. I know it's not my router because I've been using the same router for the past 2 yrs. I've disabled my firewall. I have no antivirus, no anti-spyware programs. I've left my 'puter completely vunerable but I still cannot get on XoticPC.com! Daggum, this is too puzzling. I give up.

I guess its fine that the anonymizer works. I managed to get on xotic pc and can now place my order for the np9262. However I have another question XD how long will take for the np9262 to be shipped if I order it today. I heard that the system is back ordered. XD

I caution you to order and give out your personal info., i.e. credit card number, bank accounts, etc... when going through a proxy server/anonymizer. The best thing to do, call them up by phone.

If it is working for some other computer in the same house using the same router, it has to be your pc.

The two most obvious guesses are a dnscache issue or a host file

    start > type
    CMD
in the search box and wait, when you see the CMD command under programs, right click and choose RUN AS ADMINSTRATOR

agree to all the various UAC scare warnings and when you reach a prompt, type

    ipconfig /flushdns
    <enter>

you should get a command that says the dns resolver cache was flushed

Close box, load site that is not working in browser?

    Work?

    If no, navigate to
    c >windows > system32 > drivers > etc

open hosts in notepad...is www.xoticpc.com in there?

If no pc in the house can reach a website, it is likely your ISP's dns server.

I sat and argued with comcast for three days because a friend's computer could not reach WINDOWS UPDATE!

They insisted it was the faults of a) my friend's computer, or b) Windows update. This despite the fact windows update worked just fine over a dial up using a different ISP with the same computer, it worked fine on a cable connection with another computer, and it worked fine when the router at the home was connected to a different cable connection.

Furthermore I did multiple tracerts, and could show that the comcast server was malfunctioning, routering windows update traffic to the wrong server, but they absolutely refused to believe it was them

I couldn't even find someone at comcast who knew what a tracert was....sigh

Easier way to get to CMD window: just hold down keys Windows+R, then type in CMD in the field and press enter...

Yes, I know, but in order to run an ipconfig command in Vista, you need elevated privilidges...your method does not allow for that.

I confident now that the problem lies with Comcast. I'll have to argue with them tomorrow morning.

Have you tried the following things?

    1) Clean up your private data, including cache, cookies, and histories, everything, then try to visit the site again

    2) Install a different internet browser and try to get on to xotic again

    3) go to ipconfig again but this time use ipconfig /renew

    4) if you are using wireless try to connect your laptop to your cable to bypass your router...

better yet, temporarily set a dns server that is differnet than comcast's and see if things work

Start > NETWORK > NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER > click MANAGE NETWORK CONNECTIONS, right click your connection, choose PROPERTIES, choose INTERNET PROTOCAL V4, and click PROPERTIES button, then click USE THE FOLLOWING DNS SERVERS and set two addresses for some public DNS Servers

    (here's some here:
    http://theos.in/windows-xp/free-fast-public-dns-server-list/
    )

Now check the site. Now you're armed with information when you call comcast.
