    ok so im going to order a Sager NP8660 (Built on Clevo M860TU) from XoticPc.
    I really wanted a 1080P display. Screen Choices on Xotic Pc laptops are either the 15.4" WSXGA (1680x1050) Glossy Type or WUXGA (1920x1200) Matte Display. What should I do I want the 1920x1200 but its matte? I have heard that matte screens require more light and that they dont have the color that a glossy screen has. Plz help!

    Glossy screens are characterized as having brighter, snappier colors, but they are also more distorted. Professionals who need color accuracy swear by matte screens. Matte screens also glare less, so can be used in brighter lighting conditions easier. It's usually a matter of preference for screen type.

    I'd say most people will tell you glossy. I prefer glossy myself.

    Edit: To get more info, ask Justin directly. He can tell you about the specific screens, particularly if either of them are LED backlit or not.

    Are you going to watch true HD content on it? If not, there's no reason you'd need or want that high of a resolution, IMO. Some people will say it is better, but if you have a lower resolution, your graphics card can push more frames for a given game.

    I don't know why but my friend's glossy screen is much easier to see when he's sitting in front of a window compared to my matte.

    The matte screen on my old laptop just seems so dim. But then maybe it's the backlighting because desktop screens are fine.

    I went with WUXGA on the NP8660 because that's what I'm used to and I love having the space. But if the WSXGA is LED-lit I could well be tempted to switch....

    What kind of lighting conditions/environments are you planning you use your pc in?

    Also, a lot just depends on the particular screen make/model. I have a matte which as you can see sits in front of large windows. I never have a washed out screen. It's still plenty bright - in fact just as bright as the glossy I had. It's not quite a "pretty" color wise but it's not too far off from the glossy.

    That might not be too bad with a glossy. I think non fluorescent lighting and sunlight make more reflections.

    No specifications on Sager's website indicate that either screen option is LED-backlit

    It's the same ODM manufacturer (Clevo), but the OEM is different (Eurocom vs. Sager). PCMW is a Eurocom reseller, and Xotic PC is a Sager reseller. Sager and Eurocom may offer in display options, and it looks like they do

    The graphics card, motherboard, CPU's etc, should be the same. You can can different screens, though.

    Sager= American Clevo reseller.
    Eurocom = Canadian Clevo reseller
    PCMW=Eurocom reseller.

    @chidesd:

    I know that PCMW has a bad rep on these boards, due to past performance of companies allegedly connected to the PCMW owner. Also, PCMW does some shady things with marketing.

    But I ordered a "Horizon" (Clevo m57RU) from them, and have had no issues whatsoever. The ordering and payment process was painless, and when the laptop was delayed for 2 days (because the new 320gb/7,200RPM drives were backordered), they made up for it by refunding shipping, and giving other discounts. I LOVE my computer, and have had no problems or issues with it at all. And I LOVE the 1920x1200 GLOSSY screen that it came with!
